"During the lockdown, we decided to treat ourselves to takeout one evening from a restaurant we hadn't been to in years. Unfortunately, we were disappointed with the food quality compared to our previous experiences. While the soups were good, the main dishes ranged from barely passable to downright awful. The dishes were filled with cheap, filler ingredients like peppers and tomatoes, and the duck was covered in fatty skin while the lamb contained gristle and fat. The sweet and sour pork was mediocre at best, lacking in flavor and color. The only highlights were the rice and soup. Despite the high prices, we felt let down by the overall experience and only received a partial refund after complaining. We wouldn't recommend this restaurant and have had better Thai food from stalls in Camden market at a fraction of the price."

Overcooked ‘old’ food. Really quite disgusting. They are totally disorganised and rude. I actually felt nauseous when I tasted the duck

Last night, my family and I dined at Thai Elephant. The service was outstanding and made us feel very welcome. The food was freshly prepared and incredibly tasty. The sea bass was cooked perfectly and fresh, and the pad Thai was one of the best I've ever had.

The restaurant was dead and me and my 2 friends stood at the door for ages feeling like idiots and asked for a table and they just looked at us. Finally offering us a table with NO SPACE for us to sit down. Really weird vibe in there so we went next door to Gaylord and spent £150. View menu

I and my man went to dinner yesterday, eating was great, atmosphere was relaxing portions are so big, we had the menu a for two, not ate two main courses (they gave us 4), so we took it home I was glad that we went out and found this place very close to home, delicious eating and good service. Thank you.

The people running the business are very rude and unprofessional. We ordered food and particularly asked food to be made non spicy. the person on the phone was impatient, rude and racist.first of all they didn't deliver the right order and then refused to give us refund. We had travelled all the way from Maidenhead. We could not eat that food and it was a complete waste of our time and money.

We got a takeaway delivered here on Friday night. We spent £35 and it was only the spring rolls that were edible. The beef satay was burned and gristley and satay sauce tasted off. The duck pancakes were dry and the Thai green curry tasted very strange and was too spicy to eat. Very disappointed as we have eaten here previously and it was nice! Seemed like they were trying to get rid of old/poor quality stock. View menu

My husband went to the restaurant at 6pm and ordered a take-out. He was told it would be ready in 30 minutes. He left to run some errands and returned 30 minutes later only to be informed it would take another 30 minutes! In reality, it took an additional 45 minutes. I understand it was a busy Saturday night, but the wait was excessive. Adding to the disappointment, the vegetarian pad Thai we ordered ended up having chicken in it. As a non-meat eater, this was quite off-putting.

Tried this on a whim and was very pleasantly surprised. Set in the right hand side of The Wellington pub, the decor was straight from the restaurant. Service was very good and a wide range of drinks available from the bar. The best part was the food it was outstanding. The flavours as authentic as the ingredients imported from Thailand and skilfully prepared by Nikki the Chef and proprietor. Both the red and green curries were delicious, just the right amount of spice with the flavours of the ingredients readily distinguishable through the heat. The best Thai food since Thailand and reasonably priced too. Looking forward to going back or having a takeaway in the very near future.

"After many years, on recommendation of others, went to this restaurant to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Whilst the food was excellent, the service was atrocious and totally ruined what should have a lovely night out on a very special occasion. Booked for and seated...promptly. Orders for aperitifs taken and drinks brought promptly. Order for wine taken, bottle brought and opened. Then it all went downhill. Waited for over minutes for our meal order to be taken and that only happened because I signalled to the girl behind the bar that I was getting unhappy. First course then took about minutes to arrive. However our main course took until to arrive. I have never ever waited minutes for a main course to arrive. It would not have been so bad if the staff had shown any interest or we had been able to grab hold of one to ask what was going on, they just seemed to totally ignore us! As mentioned earlier, the food, when it did arrive, was very good, it would have been even better if the side order of vegetables my wife had ordered had also arrived. We did ask what had happened to them but when we were told they had been overlooked, decided to just make do and share mine. To add insult to injury, while we were waiting we noticed that other couples were eating dishes that were not on the menu we had been given. I later found out that we were supposed to have been given a specials menu but this had also been overlooked. At the end, the manager was very apologetic and gave a cursory discount however this was not the point. It was a special occasion at a not inexpensive restaurant I would have preferred to pay the full price and not had a ruined evening. Needless to say, we will not be returning."

"After reviewing the menu, we decided to go for a 'running buffet' and shared a variety of dishes, reordering every ten minutes or so. I asked everyone to rate each dish on a scale of 1 to 5, and every main dish received a perfect score of 5, except for the Szechuan Prawns, which got a 5.5, and the sizzling spicy chicken, which scored a 6! The rice and noodles were all delicious—fluffy, tasty, and well-seasoned—but we gave them all a rating of 4 simply because the mains were exceptional. The standout dishes were the Char Siew (honey pork), which we ended up ordering three times, and the sizzling hot spicy chicken, which we ordered twice. It had a delightful kick of heat, was tender and moist, and had a wonderful sauce—even though I tried to manage the scores, they rated it a 6! The Szechuan prawns were plump, firm, and cooked to perfection, and they scored a very hard-fought 5.5, with just the right amount of heat. One of the boys was a bit picky, but we requested a serving of Singaporean noodles without vegetables for him without any hassle. This isn’t just average food; it’s really good, and it comes out quickly, looks appealing, and tastes fantastic—reflecting its price. We also tried the 'wine by the glass' options. The white Chilean Sauvignon Blanc paired well with the food, while I enjoyed an Australian Shiraz that complemented the beef, pork, and spicy dishes nicely. The Italian 'Blush' rosé was also a hit. We're already planning to return on Monday with another group of six to explore more of the menu, and I’m genuinely looking forward to it. If you truly appreciate good food, I highly recommend trying Chef Peking!"
