"We took advantage of the Barley Mow's canalside location to meet up with old friends as we were passing through on our narrowboat and they in their motorhome. We booked a table for the evening were glad we had as the place was busy with a mixture of locals and visitors eating and drinking. The atmosphere was lively and Richard and his staff were welcoming attentive throughout our meal. A good range of lagers and ales were on offer and the menu was wide, varied and well priced. Our meals were delicious with ample portions; we thoroughly enjoyed our evening and would highly recommend that you call in and experience for yourself what good things Richard and his staff are doing here."

Lovely pub. We always call in for a snack and drink when we’re in Rugby. Food tasty, service friendly and caring. Just a little disappointed in the Ladies WC couldn’t close door, needs fixing for privacy

This pub, located right by the canal, is very dog-friendly and has a welcoming landlord. There’s a pool table and a screen for football, which is great if you’re interested in watching a game. Overall, it’s a lovely spot for a quick pint during your walk along the canal. Rooms: 5, Service: 5, Location: 5.

What a great little place to eat. It’s right on the canal and having phoned ahead and spoken to Richard (very helpful) we we allowed to stay overnight in our motorhome. We met friends and booked a table for dinner. The food was really delicious and the atmosphere was very friendly. I would certainly use this pub again if in the area.We didn’t use the rooms so can’t comment. Food drinks: Very nice food, good choice and good portions. Service: 5

Our final destination before returning the boat to Willow Wren Boats was an excellent choice. The service was outstanding from the moment we arrived, and it remained consistently high throughout our experience, from placing our order to enjoying our meal. I wholeheartedly recommend trying the food here, especially alongside a nice pint or your favorite drink. They are also dog-friendly, which was perfect for us since Ted doesn’t like being left alone on the boat. We will definitely be returning in the future. Best regards from The Heron and Grantham crews. 19/10/23 Rooms: 4

We stopped at the Barley Mow whilst on a Canal Boat Holiday, the welcome we got when we arrived was very polite and friendly, we had booked a table before arriving as we had heard it could be busy, once we ordered the food didn’t take long to arrive and everyone in the party really enjoyed their food, all in all a very enjoyable atmosphere and very friendly crowd in the pub, I would HIGHLY recommend anyone to come and stop and get something to eat and have a drink here, I will definitely be returning in the future, Thankyou very much Richard. Food drinks: The food is excellent and made to a very high standard, highly recommended to all

"Visited this place for the first time last night and have to say the service was really really poor from the second we walked through the door. Our table was booked for 7.45pm we didn’t get seated till 8.20pm and when the young girl seated us there was no apologies for waiting and she came across very blunt..the soup starter was lovely but the bread was a let down it was like cake and the bread with that brown sauce on ruins the bread it tasted pretty nasty,my friend liked the bread but said that the sauce ruined it. The bread to me just wasn’t very nice I make home made bread myself and this was pretty poor it tasted nothing like homemade bread. For the main I had a medium rare steak the steak was very raw inside you may aswell have just gave me a cow mooing and only the sides had been touched it was cold in the middle!! and warm on the outside (I ate it as I was so hungry I had been working all day and came straight home dressed and out again) but it had not been cooked properly to how I like it, I felt funny after eating the steak. The service was really poor one lad said to us “have you finished with that” nearly everybody spoke so lazy there was no professionalism. There was only one person who stood out as I overheard him serve another table and he was very welcoming and professional he was wearing all black and was also working on the bar he had dark blond ish hair and spoke gentle,I hope your paying him well because his manners etc is impeccable and he was very polite to us when he served us upstairs at the bar."
