"Whilst the pub and scenery itself is beautiful and the staff were friendly, we were disappointed with the food from the outset. The menu on the Internet and the menu we were actually provided in the pub were very different. We were not told about the specials boards which had choices we would have ordered from the outset. I ordered the pie of the week, which was cottage pie. However when it arrived it was basically a bowl of potato with barely any mince in it. I have never complained about a meal before, or sent food back but I was so shocked at the lack of filling that I was not prepared to pay for it. This said I was offered another meal off the menu when this was brought to the staffs attention, offered complimentary drinks and they re-cooked my husbands meal so that we could eat together. My second meal was much better and was really enjoyable. Its just a shame that our initial experience over shadowed the remainder of the evening."

Been a bit wary since the revamp but I had an excellent evening meal. Really good risotto. Beer is always good and service friendly. Well worth re-discovering.

This restaurant is fantastic with delicious food and wine, a quiet atmosphere, and polite staff. I will definitely be back. The furniture is lovely and the menu is impressive.

I recently went to The Bell for Sunday lunch with a friend. The food was presented beautifully and tasted amazing. The owner was friendly and attentive. We had a craving for a cheese board at the end of our meal, and even though it wasn't on the menu, he happily made one for us. We were so impressed that we immediately booked a table for Christmas day lunch based on our experience.

After arriving from the United States in the morning, we hopped in the car and headed north. Around lunchtime, we found ourselves near Market Harborough and stumbled upon The Bell Inn. We decided to try the Bangers and Mash and the Ploughman's Platter, both of which were absolutely delicious. The owner even took some time to chat with us, adding to our enjoyable experience. I highly recommend The Bell Inn. View menu

We haven’t been here since last summer as we were put off by the shoddy interior and sloppy service .... we arrived recently after a walk with the dogs and straight away we we received a friendly welcome and cold water...with ice for the dogs. We had sea bass with veg and dauphinois potatoes for around £14 and it was fantastic...really beautifully cooked...massive improvement from last time we were there.. lovely views, nice walks and very pretty pub garden full of white roses and lavender.

We were surprised and delighted to find that this pub has new management ?ownership? as it had been disappointing of late. The very friendly guy said they'd only been there a week but they were very attentive and the food was excellent and reasonably priced. Italian chef apparently and they are tweaking the menu. Wild mushroom risotto can have chicken or steak added for a couple of pounds extra and was terrific. I had a huge portion of very moist and tender Piri Piri chicken with chips and our friend had a home made pie with chips and vegetables. All very tasty. Recommended

We have just had a meal at this pub. This used to be our lovely local but has recently changed hands. It has gone down hill considerably since then. Tonight we were a party of 8 people. All of us locals. My husbands meal did not arrive. We were told it was something to do with their ordering system !! When everyone else had finished their food, he cancelled his at it had still not arrived. No apology nothing. Not even a sorry. The most bizarre experience. It was as if nothing had happened. Maybe it is a regular occurrence here so warrants no comment who knows. As with many other locals, we won’t be back. We all feel quite cross that a good solid local pub has been totally ruined. This was the first time we had been to the Bell Inn for a few years. The interior is much improved (clean, stylish cosy and the welcome was warm and friendly. The roast dinner was fresh, tasty and plentiful (we took our extra roasties home in a doggy bag! . The pudding; apple rhubarb crumble, was delicious too. The service throughout our meal was top class and the landlord thoroughly entertained our 6 year old boy with lots of banter and fun! My son also loved the Jaffa cake ice cream! We will definitely be back. If you have not been to the Bell Inn yet or were put off by a poor previous experience, then you should give it a go now, as the new management are first class. Five Stars!!

We had been meaning to visit this village pub after a friend had recommended it. The 'Eat Out ' discounted scheme gave us the main reason to give it a go. The starter of tomato and basil soup was steaming hot and delicious, served with crusty bread. I was offered mackerel salad and was not disappointed; delicious served with a bowl of new potatoes. Hubby was served a rather large beef burger and cheese with a side of chips. He has a hearty appetite and it was more than enough for him. The service was warm and friendly, without being intrusive. Had we had paid the full non- discounted bill, we would have been very happy at the price. Listening to the staff taking bookings this is a popular pub...

"I visited my daughter and son-in-law last week and on my request they had booked a table for us on black horse on Saturday night at 1 o'clock. we arrived shortly before the pm and all four of us stood in the bar where two were served. it wasn't busy. no one told us anything until the bar was clear and then one of the ladies looked at me and I said we booked a table in my name of my daughter and she saw the bookings and said oh yes, we had table assigned and pointed into another room. there was no greeting no smiling, so we met our way to the table and sat there. there were no menus on the table, so I stood up to find some and someone only made their way from the other room in the direction of our table. we ordered drinks that were in themselves a task, as they had no free or dietary limmonade, so I had to go to the end for a gin with slimline tonic. then we ordered four different meal times. I ordered a vegetarian curry in naanbrot and when it finally came, I was so disappointed because the naanbrot was burned and the curry was cold on the outside, so I asked them to take it back. the waitress asked if I wanted to order something else and I went back. my daughter then shared some of her meals with me, who were chicken pupils. they were coated in a teig that was extremely fat. the menu does not seem to come out of any meal with fresh vegetables, everything seemed to come with chips and draughts, even the Steak-Mahl came only with chips and draughts, no mushrooms, tomatoes, wobble rings or something. I wasn't impressed. for a pub that wants good reviews, I think they have lost the property. the customer service is everything and fresh vegetables is essential. I'm sorry to be the bearer worse, but we won't come back."
