"we were here for a night with our two dogs in this week as soon as we got into the pub we were very welcome and all were so friendly and friendly. we were shown in our room for the night of charlie who was again very friendly and attentive. the room was nice what we needed for our short break. when we came to dinner, it was such a hard choice to order, as everything on the menu sounds nice, at the end I decided on a burger and my partner went for fish chips. both meals were really well presented and were absolutely delicious! we decided to share a dessert and went for sticky toffee pudding with butterscotch sauce. beautiful. our room for the night was quiet, we didn't hear a peep from the pub below, which was great, especially for our dogs jumping on the smallest lary. the breakfast next morning was nice and set us up for the day to explore another corner of the lake district. the pub was in a great location for us, we spent our first day in bowness on windermere and it took us about 35 minutes to reach the pub from there, the following day we visited coniston waters and it took only about 20 minutes to get there. we really had a nice time and would recommend 100% this friendly pub for both eating and staying! we can't wait to get back to another short break! thank you for having looked after us so well!"

We went for a late lunch and the food was excellent. The portions are big so you won’t leave hungry!

only sitting in the pub that writes this is the place on the square. child menu fantastic, beer is great and the staff is dedicated and friendly. great work.

bad presentation. meat over boiled, like chewing gum. sweet almost raw. looks like a traffic accident on the plate. it took 45 minutes from ordering to service, allegedly cooked for fresh when it obviously came out of a microwave.

with two people from our party of four who require gluten-free eating, it was brilliant to see that there was a separate gluten-free menu with fantastic options just as good in the main menu. and eating was also fabulous! friendly staff, good eating, good bar and good ambiente. we're coming back.

Great little pub, service was fantastic, menu was very good with a nice variety of classic English dishes. Parking is only a stones throw away in the village square, just a short walk up from the pub itself, would highly recommend this place for anyone who wants nice pub grub and a cold beer. Will definitely be stopping off again ! 5

Warm welcome. Great food..beautiful old building..hence my one little downside. Could smell damp in walls ..where we ate our food was fine but bar area could do with a little intervention. But I appreciate how difficult the work would be to rectify given the age and shape of the interior walls. Would still recommend tho..food was delightful..Best burger I've had in years

Myself and three friends are visiting the area for my birthday. We dropped in here for dinner because it’s dog friendly. The staff were excellent they and the regulars were extremely welcoming. 1 friend is vegan and another veggie they were perfectly accommodating and their meals were far from boring! Everything was well seasoned. The ale options were perfect. Traditional pub, great atmosphere. Will definitely be back.

Seemed far to busy for the space available!! People waiting for tables even with a booking , people being asked to leave tables when it didn't seem they were ready to. Took a while for the food to arrive the starter was fantastic and worth the wait the main corse not so good!! We did mention to the waitress that we were not happy with the main course but she didn't seem that interested in our view of what was not to our liking!!
