"We recently celebrated our wedding at the Ashbrook arms in October 2020. Sean and Roszita were very welcoming accommodating, particularly as we were scheduling the wedding less than 10 days before the date (Due to Covid levels changing! Our guests (21 adults 2 children enjoyed a drinks canape reception, while we took several photographs on the grounds of the hotel. Our photographer was delighted with the ample locations for shots including the courtyard, walled passage, Green house, river, resulting in many fabulous shots! Our speeches were held before the meal in the initial dining area before proceeding to the conservatory for our 5 course reception. We were blown away with the standard of food, and choice on the menu. We hadn’t had time to schedule in a meal or tasting in advance, but we were assured by friends and family that the food was good! In addition Sean catered for food intolerances with ease as the Bride had some dietary requirements. The conservatory was the perfect room for an intimate group, and made for a very elegant dining space with the assistance of a local florist . On the night there was only our wedding party staying and we enjoyed the run of the hotel with a leisurely breakfast the following day. Everything about the day was relaxed and comfortable. We would highly recommend the Ashbrook Arms as a wedding venue for any couple planning a small wedding."

My family ate here for 4 nights in February, when staying nearby. The food is really great, and good value for money. I asked the steak to be cooked a certain way and they were happy to oblige. Really enjoyed it and would definitely recommend it.

I was searching for a restaurant that served dinner late on a Sunday evening and stumbled upon this fantastic place. The food was delicious and beautifully presented, and the service from the friendly waiter was top-notch. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

We dined in the charming dining room and enjoyed the delicious food, especially the outstanding rhubarb and parkin trifle. The service was a bit slow even though the pub and restaurant were not busy. It was not a problem for us, but if we had other plans that day, we might have felt a bit impatient.

Last minute booking and what a find. Pleasant welcome at reception. Room was quirky and clean. Covid measures in place. Food was amazing and the lady that served our table was a gem. We have found a wonderful place to stay. Totally relaxing, just what we needed. We will return again. Oh and a Four in a Bed winner. Well deserved. View menu

Stayed here with friends on the way to Edinburgh and was this was an ideal place to break the journey. Very pretty village and good car parking was a welcome sight. Surprised that it wasn’t open all day but the owner showed us the rooms and left a drink in the bar to collect so no problem. Food was very good, and good choice of beverages. Bed was a bit hard but room was good standard for the money. Special mention to Merlin the dog who greeted us with great affection! Would definitely stay here again.

The new owner staff of The Castle Arms Inn were exceptional, so friendly accommodating, a big thanks to Adrian, Louisa Derrick for a great stay. The Castle Arms Inn is a proper traditional country pub with good ale. Our room was well maintained well equipped. The breakfast was first class, all good quality ingredients definitely a one that sets you up for the day. The Castle Arms had a good selection on their evening menu, along with the addition of a specials board, the food was well cooked tasty. The Castle Arms is set in a very quiet village, however it is within easy access to many larger towns a short drive from the A1. Highly recommend. View menu

We stayed at The Castle Arms Inn for 3 nights. We had a lovely break. The breakfasts were extremely good, lots of choice and excellent service. We ate here all three evenings as well and although the menu wasn't too extensive everything we had was extremely well done and we didn't struggle to make a selection. The rooms were warm, clean, well equipped and comfortable. The location was very good and a great base for seeing local places of interest without having to drive miles and miles every day. We've had a lovely, relaxing time. We would recommend this Inn and would stay there again. Thank you to Jill and her staff you were all very welcoming and friendly.

Although the staff were incredibly friendly, the service at the restaurant was disappointingly slow. We only managed to have one course during our two-hour visit, which left us hesitant to wait any longer for dessert by 9:30. My main concern was the restaurant's handling of Covid protocols. While the seating arrangement did allow for proper distancing given the room size, the tables were only wiped down with a dry cloth after each group left. Additionally, condiments like salt, pepper, and vinegar were left on the tables, potentially used by previous customers and not replaced or cleaned. Menus were also shared among groups without being sanitized. Compared to other pubs I have visited since...
