"I was brought here on a date by my lovely boyfriend who lives locally. I was quite tired from a train journey to get there and immediately noticed that the staff were really lovely and polite, asking if we wanted to relax in the bar...or go straight to the table. We were seated looking into the conservatory and the views of the fields were lovely. He had a local beer (which I like to see offered) and I drank a house red. We opted for the three courses and I was honestly blown away by the quality and beautiful presentation of the food. The goat's cheese and fig tart I started with was absolutely delicious and the corn fed chicken breast main was lovely too. The meat was fantastic quality and I could taste that it was good stuff- I could tell that the vegetables were really fresh too.We finished off with dessert (panna cotta for him and salted caramel ice cream for me) and that was just really nice. The bar and waiting staff were polite, attentive and professional and you'll be seeing us both again."

visits here for a high-time anniversary. the menu was very limited in my opinion. five of the group of seven could not actually choose two courses. very disappointing how the meal after the high time last year was very good

Visited The Chequers with a group of friends and thought the food and service was very good I had the Lamb which was superb. My wife had the pie which was a bit on the dry side The desserts were all very good. Must go...back again soo

hidden from A17 we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of food and service. a varied menu that made it difficult to select the meals due to the available selection. I had the venison, which was really tender and the other 3rd in the party had fish, lamb and bark, all well presented and fresh. the whole place, bar and restaurant had a very clean look and eating and service was excellent

Enjoyed a very nice meal at The Chequers, Gedney Dyke. Nice varied menu making choices quite difficult — all sounded so good. For starters I had pigeon breast and my wife had baked Camembert. Both very nice. For mains my wife had lamb rump and...I had chicken and ham hock pot. Delicious and certainly filling. Can never resist onion rings if on a menu. True to form and ordered. They were as good as any previously had and were obviously freshly made. Just room for a vanilla crime brûlée. This was to die for. My wife had a Cointreau coffee instead of sweet. Food was presented very well and all was thoroughly enjoyed. Most certainly worth another visit. Thanks to all staff

The hidden gem of Gedney Dyke. An incredible dining experience and we ate in the bar! The front of house staff were warm and welcoming but when asked if they accept dogs we had no idea what was to come. We had the black pudding...and rosti starter which was an Anglo Germanic relationship I never expected to see in lincolshire. This was followed by a succulent venison Wellington which was well worth the distance travelled. Meanwhile the dog found himself enjoying a banquet fit for a butchers dog and comprised pigs in blankets and the chef did not spare the garnish in order to make this a great feast fit for all. Highly recommended for all the family four legged friends included and will certa...

We have visited the Chequers several times since my report a year ago and it has been consistently very good, with well prepared and presented food and service that would not be out of place in a far more expensive restaurant. We were, therefore, dismayed...to learn that the business was on the market to be sold. This restaurant is probably not for everyone. If you are looking for vast quantities of standard pub grub look elsewhere. If you are looking for excellent food, slick and professional service in a very pleasant atmosphere, the Chequers is for you. Any buyer would be well advised to continue to offer what is a rare experience in this somewhat remote part of the country and to persuad...

best restaurant/bar in 20 miles when gedney dyke. beautiful, modern but plough interieur. separate area of restaurants really well presented, glasses ready on tables, white table clothes, always seemed that we go somewhere special and inexpensive. main courses no more than traditional pubs, but. that was a whole class or two above. what a terrible disappointment that the local community (gedney dyke) did not support. the owner couldn't pay it and decided to convert into living space. the local community contradicted the permission by 3 years. they even thought they could buy it and run a pub. it has never happened and sadly the permission has passed through and the pub will not be anymore. w...

"We've been here a couple of times before and it's been great, however our latest visit was not a great experience. Portions were small, presentation wasn't anything special, looked like meals I could of in nocked up myself as a quick tea at home, nothing special at all, certainly didn't look like a restaurant dining experience. Also, never come across a restaurant that stipulates on the menu if you want steak they need 48 hours notice! And even if they do, they should tell people when they book in as we had 2 of our party very disappointed on the night. The whole dining experience was also ruined by a group of loud, drunk locals sitting in the dining area and talking and swearing at the top of their voices so we couldn't even hear ourselves having a conversation. If people have paid for a dining experience no matter how bad that was, they should not have to put up with a table full of loud, swearing locals who were just there for the drink, keep the two things separate! Really dark and dingy in the restaurant, we struggled to read the menu due to how badly lit it was. The waitress started the evening by telling us what wasn't available off the menu, which in itself seemed odd at the beginning of the weekend to of already run out of so much. Needless to say this one bad experience overshadows previous good ones, it looks like the place has gone down hill, we won't be back! Must say though this is by no means a reflection of the staff they were lovely, it's on the owners!"
