"When me and a friend recently decided to nip in for coffee and cake we were left a little disappointed. Both our cakes were dry and slightly stale. And both our coffees were not great at all. We ordered a flat white which come out very frothy. Looked like a cappuccino, but under the froth it was a milky latte. I feel that whatever coffee we would have ordered, it would be the same outcome. I think if a coffee shop is going to call themselves THE COFFEE SHOP, you’ll need your baristas to know their stuff. I could even hear the barista frying the hell out of my milk before it had even come. The cake I understand as you can’t make them fresh everyday, but the coffee is made on the spot. I think your baristas need some training!"

The usual cafe menu but with nothing different or unusual. No toilets. Staff not particularly friendly.

I was overcharged for a pot of tea on its own this morning. The menu clearly listed a pot of loose leaf tea at £1.60. I was charged £1.70.

Called in for a light lunch. we had the ploughman's plus drinks. The meals were good sized portions and seemed nice and fresh. The staff were friendly and the surroundings very simple but pleasant with the seating overlooking the main road through the town.

There's a definite retro feel here, with table service, classic cutlery and vintage music. The food all looked excellent, tables were clean and our plates were taken away at the right moment when we were done. Prices were very good value, would definitely recommend. View menu

This restaurant is the best in town for breakfast! The food is amazing, the staff is great, and the portions are very generous. They are also very accommodating for gluten-free options. I highly recommend this place and it has become our regular Saturday morning treat.

I visited on my own. It was table service. Nice friendly staff. Freshly baked home made scones and cakes. Table cloths and chairs very dated but the tables were all with fresh flowers which was a nice touch. Nice bone china cups used. Would recommend for a coffee and bite to eat.

We have visited here for years and this place has been taken over. This is our first visit with new owners and very disappointed breakfast baguettes are really firm and crunchy, over filled and it looks like they may no longer be using local butchers sausages. Scrambled egg comes as a microwaved blob and wife says Luke warm beans. Sadly a great place is not great anymore much room for improvement. View menu

There were only three other occupied tables - a quiet couple, a chatty group of three, and a solo diner who rushed out to speak with someone on the street, leaving her meal to get cold. It was a typical scene of rural Norfolk, which I found endearing. The cakes looked straight out of the 1950s and tasted delicious, reminiscent of my grandmother's baking. I savored every moment of my visit and am eagerly looking forward to returning. I'm grateful that simple, charming places like this still exist.

After exploring the town during our weekend in East Anglia, we searched for a place to have coffee before our journey back to London. The Coffee Shop was the perfect choice. Despite its small size and traditional décor, the coffee and tea were excellent. We decided to share a sausage baguette, which was generously sized and made with top quality sausages. The staff were friendly and attentive. The only downside was the lack of a restroom, but clean public facilities were conveniently located just a few steps away in the car park entrance.

"Where do I even begin? The service from the woman behind the bar was shocking. When I inquired about dairy-free options for my son, I was told that nothing could be modified and that they don't cater to allergies at all! I pointed out the menu's claim that they could accommodate such needs, but my concerns were met with an eye roll. I then tried to order him some chips, but was told they were fried in the same oil as dairy and meat products, and since we are vegetarian, that wouldn't work. I asked about the vegan dishes, only to learn that they are also prepared alongside meat products, so there's no guarantee they would actually be vegan. At this point, my daughters had already become excited about eating out and the play area, so I reluctantly decided to go along with it and ordered three sandwiches on granary bread and a child's fish and chips. My son had a packet of crisps. When the sandwiches arrived, they were absolutely terrible. The cheese and onion sandwich consisted of two slices of cheap store-bought bread, some pre-grated cheese, and a few onion slices—without even a hint of butter! It certainly wasn’t inexpensive; we paid £45 for four soft drinks, three sandwiches, and a child's meal. As for the play area, it was concerning—there were sharp screws poking through the wood chips, loose sharp fixtures on top of the slide, and a large exposed electric cable under the swings! We decided to leave swiftly; it was such a disappointing way to end our holiday, when it should have been a lovely final meal before heading home. I was appalled by their attitude towards me—I felt like an inconvenience. The food was awful, and I genuinely recommend avoiding this place if you are vegan or have allergies; even if a dish is labeled vegan, they certainly don’t take the necessary precautions to keep it separate from meat products. It’s truly unfortunate, as the location by the river is beautiful, and we were all so excited to be there, but we left feeling very disappointed. We definitely won't be returning."
