I couldn't choose between the sirloin steak and the steak and ale pie, so I opted for the torte and boy was I pleasantly surprised! This dish offered the best of both worlds, with generous portions of tender steak in a rich, flavorful sauce. The side of chips rounded out this hearty meal perfectly. The service was attentive and the ambiance was classy. I will definitely be returning soon. View menu

We have eaten twice at the Comet; a classic Sunday beef roast for me, and for my partner a bespoke vegetarian lunch, the latter accompanied by specifically prepared vegetarian gravy and a plate of leeks in a delicious cheese sauce. On both occasions the waitress...could not have been more helpful and attentive...plus the ale was excellent. Prices are good and the portions are stomach enhancing.

Stumbled across this absolute gem with the wife on Saturday afternoon while visiting family, and it was so good that we took my Dad back on Sunday! Incredible welcome, top class hospitality from Cathy, gorgeous surroundings and to top it off, the food over both...days was absolutely devine. A proper pub in a fabulous setting, run by fantastic people. We will be frequent vistors here for the foreseeable future.
