"We called here on December 19, 2021, a busy Sunday around teatime. We didn’t have a reservation, but the staff managed to squeeze us in despite it being very busy with Christmas and Sunday lunches. I chose the vegan sausage of the day on a bed of mash with veg gravy and hubby had the coconut Dahl (not on the online menu). We shared the cauliflower balls. The sausage dish was lovely though they were more vegetable croquets than sausage. Hubby said his Dahl was good as well. The cauli balls were different shaped cauli wings and lacked a dipping sauce. All was nicely presented. Service was good despite the pub being very busy. Overall a good visit and a vast improvement on the food from last time we visited over summer."

We did a taxi run and stopped for an early evening drink on the return journey. Great gardens and lots of space between tables outside. Dogs are allowed too. There's plenty of patron only parking behind the pub if needed.

best pub in preston. great atmosphere, good location, close to the park, great eating always and desserts. some items on the menu are very beautifully decorated, they have a good cook. outside the garden is also great. big bonus for dogs also. often visited, both in cold and warm seasons.

Amazing tasty food, great service. I had Korean fried rice with tofu, other options were mushroom risotto, watermelon feta salad or vegan burger. Exotic fruit platter for dessert, didn’t take pic of main course but it was all delicious. Vegan children’s meal option of tomato pasta with vegetables too Updated from previous review on 2024-05-23 View menu

I’ve eaten a lot of vegan dishes and this one was the worst! The cauliflower main was completely tasteless well aside from a bigger burnt flavour. Couldn’t eat it and had to send it back and just get chips! It’s 2023 it’s really not that hard to make a tasty vegan dish this menu reads like it’s been created by a meat eater chef who hates vegans or has just never tasted the vegan dishes themselves.

Lots of great vegan options and a great location .. near to Miller and Avenham Parks, the train station and Preston town centre. They offer indoor, outdoor and conservatory seating. There are vegan starters, mains and dessert. Not the usual 'make do ' options, but really inspiring and tasty food. Today I had the Tofu in cider batter with chunky chips, pea and basil puree and lemon curd dip. It was delicious

We visited The Continental on Friday night to see a tribute band. We arrived quite early and, although it was busy, we managed to find a good spot to sit without too much trouble. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The show took place in the back building, which was a great setting for the event. The band performed exceptionally well, and everyone had a fantastic time. The accessible toilet was easy to locate and navigate, which was a plus. View menu

I found the sausage dish a bit confusing, as they resembled more of a plant-based croquette than traditional sausages. My husband mentioned that his dahl was quite good, though. The flower balls had unique shapes but didn’t come with a dipping sauce, which was a bit disappointing. Everything was beautifully presented, and despite the pub being very busy, the service was commendable. Overall, it was a pleasant visit, and I noticed a significant improvement in the food quality since our last visit in the summer.

There are numerous excellent vegan options available, and the restaurant is conveniently located near Miller and Avenham Parks, as well as the railway station and the city center of Preston. They provide seating indoors, outdoors, and in a winter garden. The menu features vegan starters, main dishes, and desserts that go beyond typical offerings, showcasing truly creative and delicious cuisine. Today, I had the tofu in cedar batter with chunky chips, complemented by a basil purée and lemon curd dip. It was absolutely delightful!
