"Another week, another interesting new opening in Camberwell. I seem to have been spending a lot of my time around these parts lately, although admittedly most of that is down to the marvellous Silk Road and my insatiable desire for their home-style cabbage. If you've not made the effort to visit this unassuming little Xinjiangese and haven't yet sampled a healthy handful of cumin-spiced lamb kebabs or a big steaming bowl of belt chicken noodles or yes, that silky, stocky hand-torn cabbage, then you have a real treat in store. It's the kind of restaurant every spice-loving Londoner wants as their local, and I love it. But this post isn't about Silk Road, and the Crooked Well isn't an...read more"

The Crooked Well is a pleasant enough pub, tucked away from the traffic of Camberwell Church Street.

This is such a great place to go nicely decorated, relaxed atmosphere, buzzy but not too much, lovely, very cute and attentive staff.

So delicious! I can't even begin! Our friends who live across the street come here weekly so when we came to town they brought us over. View menu

The Crooked Well is posh Camberwell, located near Camberwell Grove. It's a really nice pub, good service and quite smart around the edges. If you're like me and you prefer something a bit scruffier, you'll probably find the Crooked Well too polished. Lovely benches outside to enjoy a drink in the sun and good cocktails too!

We were spoiled for choice with the menu, there were seven dishes to choose from for each course, and on top of that there were one special and two sharing main dishes, not to mention the homemade ice cream and selection of cheeses! The restaurant also does a ‘Cocktail of the Day’ from the bar, the one I had was bursting with fresh blackberries.

Best experience for a longtime. I took the upstairs private room for a dinner party for 24 of us. The food, wine , service and ambiance really was off the chart. We had a choice of 3 starters, leg of lamb carved at the table, homemade ratatouille lyonnaise pots and a lemon pud. Genuinely top quality food. Hector and his team could not have been more helpful and considerate. This is a top grade party venue that can be customised for you. Hard to beat. AP View menu

here is a confession: I have never cooked a roast and found the thought quite pathetic. it seems to be the second nature for many of my British friends and colleagues; they tell me that recipes are easy to follow, tease me for being stupid, argue I should try. perhaps so; then again some people claim to make macarons is also easy. to protect the pleasure and avoid that a meltdown on the look and smell of smoke comes from my many, I thought I would eat better my first Sunday roast in the pub. which but and why?

good pub duve in camberwell. we wandered a few Sundays to the crooked well, as part of our birthday parties of our old kumpels esther, and we had a very nice lunch. we had heard many good things about this latest addition to the ever-growing Camberwell life offer and when we strolled grove lane towards pub, the signs were outpicious; every outside was full of happy punters who coughed down on something very good looking eating. the baked enter now they have a nice cooled area on the left side, which is good for laying, snacking and reading the papers with a more formal escaping area on the right side. I have visited this place in many of its different formats...read more
