"Waiting staff made several mistakes without any apology or trying to rectify the issue for us and we had to leave without eating. Firstly we had to swap an espresso martini as there was more foam than there was liquid and it came back exactly the same. My partner ordered Coca Cola and the waiter brought out a corona beer. My Sunday dinner main came out stone cold and I had to ask to return it. Again the waiting staff did not apologise for this. When the food came back without the vegetables on the plate, the sides we ordered were then cold and the beef was no longer pink, so the meal had clearly been stuck under an oven to heat it. Then the meal came out with no roast potatoes but were replaced with parsnips. It looked like it had just been thrown onto another plate after reheating but without half the components of the meal. After all this we decided that we didn’t want the meal anymore due to how badly the staff had handled this. One or two small errors is understandable but to have so many across the team (bar, waiting staff, and kitchen) is inexcusable and especially the lack of any kind of apology or enthusiasm to try and sort the situation. They offered no compensation for this other than to take the mains off the bill, and again there still was no apology and they didn’t even say goodbye when we left. It’s such a shame as me and my partner came the week before and had a lovely experience so we only put it down to the staff that were on that day. We also heard two other tables nearby complaining about other things to the staff, so it must not have been just us experiencing problems that day. Never had auch a poor experience in a restaurant, and this was all despite it being a quiet Sunday with not many guests."

Atmosphere was nice for a Saturday evening but we arrived at 6.35 and weren't served mains (only 2 of us, with one person not having a starter) until 8.15pm, and one main was a steak, which was good but the veg it was served with was wrinkly over cooked and old, not what is expected for a dish costing over £30. We couldn't get the staffs attention for drinks either so ended up ordering a second drink directly from the bar as it was simply faster. Would go again for drinks but will skip the food. View menu

Nice Decent Place for Food a Great Variety of Drinks. Been going here for sometime now for drinks or dining and always enjoy our visit. Last two visits I've noticed that the service was not up to the level which it was before for example staff taking time your order or not getting around you regularly to check up if anything needed also even after paying the bill I noticed that table was not cleared for sometime. Don't know if it was because of the less staff or just in general. The venue wasn't busy either. One thing for sure was that food was once again top notch. I'd definitely keep going here and recommend others to try this gem of a place on street lane.

This place is going severely downhill, I 'm sorry to say. Completely understaffed, filthy and now letting all sorts in. Went last night (Weds Jun 12) and 3 extremely loud and smelly very out of it crack enthusiasts were sat there shouting at everyone making everyone feel uncomfortable as well as a creepy male regular sat at the bar staring at women. Beer garden covered in broken glass, cigarette butts and drug residue. No glasses collected anywhere for over an hour. Ordered what was described on the menu as dauphinoise chips and got chips with chopped tomato and onion?! For a place that models itself as a fine gastropub it 's run worse than a Wetherspoons.
