"Fancied a nice Sunday lunch and here looked nice. The car park was pay and display(both) with no offer to refund if your having a meal. Whilst waiting for our food another couple opposite who were seated at their table were told they couldn't order food as they had too many tickets in the kitchen, they left.. We ordered the Veg Wellington which arrived with two slices of carrot three potatoes some water cress and a York pud. It was on the small side for a roast but the wellington wasn't that great, rubbery was the polite way to sum it up. We had a discount count but were told we could not use it as we had not waited 24 hours.. How many people use or search codes on the day.. The staff were great. To sum up our experience... The toilets were nice."

Beautiful views, friendly staff and delicious snacks/small plates for sharing. I loved the olives, garlic bread, halloumi fries and potato fries

Typical place "British", wooded and warm, excentrated in relation to Torquay but which is worth a visit to the beautiful days to enjoy the garden. Kitchen quite correct.

It was a lovely sunny day, so we decided to go to the Drum Inn Cockington for lunch . We had the set menu and it was really nice and we received great service from Samantha, who was really helpful Thank you Sam.

Small portion of veggie roast. They were very busy when we visited on a rainy day so maybe on a less busy day you get more than two slices of carrot, some watercress and four baby sized roast potatoes that almost could have been tinned new potatoes.

What a lovely place we went Sunday and there was some issue with the kitchen but I cannot complain at all. We all had a roast and I had vegetable wellington and it was amazing. Special thanks to Aaron for making it an enjoyable visit. We will be back again. Fabulous all round A

Visited on Bank Holiday Sunday and were advised that they had had issues with their gas supply earlier in the day. They were still able to serve roasts which is exactly what we wanted. We opted for the beef which was tender and on request Aaron grabbed us some more veg and gravy for the table! Such a beautiful pub, we’ll be back soon to try more of the menu!

We were served by Samantha who was warm , welcoming and very friendly . Our drinks arrived promptly and our starters did too I can recommend the calamari ! After a short break our mains arrived the sea bass looked amazing, but the penang curry was delicious ! The beauty of this place is a beautiful walk afterwards ! Then pop back in for that one last one for the road

We came for lunch, it would not be overpriced if the food was the quality one would expect from a gastropub. I had a very sad chicken and grain salad for 17.75, basically lacking in the ingredients advertised and chicken like a rubber tyre. My husband's spicy pepperoni pizza was nothing special for 15 quid. Drinks were good and staff were nice, although it wasn't exactly a warm welcome, they didn't give us the time to feel valued. They also refused to scan my loyalty card because I had already paid?! Poor.

"From the off, everything was bang on point. The warmth of the welcome, being taken straight to our table and offered water and an aperitif promptly. We, a party of three, opted for the set lunch, which offers very good value for money. £29.50 for two courses, £35 for three, with two options for each course. Two of us opted for the baked Roscoff onion with pearl barley. Simple ingredients but beautifully cooked with a truly sublime brown onion sauce of such intensity, it lifted an already lovely plate of food to another level. The other person had the ponzu cured mackerel which she pronounced lovely but she had serious food envy over the onion dish. The main courses were grilled hake, which again was sauced to perfection and a grilled bavette with a vegetable medley and a pea? puree and a meat jus. We added a small dish of dauphinois at £5 which complimented everything very well. We drank a good and reasonably priced Rioja Blanco. No room for dessert sadly. This restaurant is not cheap but there is a difference between cost and value and The Elephant offers very good value with the set lunch; it allows you to sample really very good cooking at a price that will not break the bank. The normal a la carte menu is around double the price but on looking at what this offered, I would say that it again offers good value for money, being a step up in choice with more expensive ingredients. This is a serious restaurant. Go there. You will not be disappointed."
