"We booked for an anniversary meal. We were seated straight away snd waited 20 minutes to order drinks. Another 15 minutes a waitress came over, we thought to take our order. No it was for the kitchen is backed up now and we can't take any more orders. We asked for the manager he was basically not interested and that we could come back another day to have a free meal on the house. But we booked and are paying for our meal, not interested in a free meal. The owner then came out and said the same thing and have free drinks and we will try and get you some food. I'm sorry but if you have booked a table for a meal you should have it. People arrived after us and were given menus. The most shocking thing is that we have been here several times and it has been busy and its never been like this even on a sumners day. Do not book with this restaurant it doesn't give you a guaranteed meal. Shocking absolutely shocking."

This is a pub like restaurant but with a great quality of food. We had the cod, chunky fries and mushy peas and the burger. Both very good and big portions. The sticky toffee pudding was great! Staff was super friendly.

Went for meal with friends, very welcoming place. The food was very very good and very big portions. The staff were friendly and professional, checking to see if everything was ok, which it was. Would recommend this restaurant. The only downside, we were seated out of the way of everything and everybody and by the gents toilets, so not very Christmassy! Would still recommend though

Heard the Sunday roast here was worth a try and wasn't disappointed! Many pubs in the area offer a roast but my experience is the majority are unfortunately mediocre at best. The roast at the Elm Tree are magnificent and consistently served at the same high quality. If you're looking for a very good roast at a reasonable price I'd thoroughly recommend booking a table at the Elm Tree and giving it a try, your taste buds will be in heaven View menu

A traditional pub serving delicious home cooked food. The menu is relatively small which is a strength and good to see. We had the chicken liver parfait with homemade sour dough bread outstanding. The panko bread crumbed Brie was also amazing. Then the enormous fish and chips appeared excellent, and we also ordered the burger It was a dark evening so we couldn’t see what looks like a very nice view from the hill top. As well as excellent food, the service was very good. We’ll be back to add the view to the great dining experience.

Fantastic quality food and wonderful, friendly service from the chefs. I have a dairy allergy and one of the chefs came out to talk me through the menu and what adaptions could be made to accommodate. Unlike many other places I’ve eaten at, I didn’t feel at all like I was inconveniencing the staff — they genuinely seemed to care. Service from the waiting staff was a little slow but I think the young man waiting our table may have been new, so that’s to be expected. It didn’t affect what a great time we had though. It was our first visit for an anniversary meal and we will definitely be returning. Thank you!

We love The Elm Tree, location is stunning. Cosy for food in the barn with an open fire in the winter or take in the views in the conservatory. There's also another open fire in the snug or farmers bar as its locally know! Our food was incredible. The burger was on another level, you know its a great burger when the juice is running down your fingers! The fish was delightful with a beautiful crunchy batter. Generous portions!!! Couldn't finish my chips! We had a bottle of pinot noir to wash it all down with, which was equally delightful. Staff are warm and friendly and it's refreshing to see the chef front of house who prepared your food! You won't be disappointed! View menu

Very Very disappointed with the service and menu. Having seen a lovely Xmas Menu in a local booklet dropped through the door chose The Elm Tree as our Xmas meet up for a seasonal meal with friends. On arriving was taken to our table. No Xmas Menu to choose from was told it had to be pre-ordered. Normal Menu was the same as always, nothing different to chose from….Also then asked about the Specials on the board again told there was No Specials….Having sat in the Restaurant for awhile noticed we were the only persons there no other customers…..I wonder Why??? As it was Xmas we thought that it would have been very busy…..Disappointed with food and choice for the time of year. Will be thinking t...

A superb Sunday lunch again. A second visit to the Elm Tree was just as great as the first. The welcome is warm and genuine. The glassed dining room has lovely views over the rolling countryside yet was still snug and warm on a cold day. The service is excellent attentive but in no way invasive. And the food...the Sunday roast here is the best I've eaten in any pub. Not only delicious (I had the chicken, my mother the lamb) but utterly delicious. Everything is just right the homemade gravy and yorkies, the side dishes. Your only issue will be trying to finish the mammoth portions. Staff suggested my mother take leftovers home, and wrapped it for her perfectly. Other courses are equally delic...

"Went here to celebrate a couple of friends birthdays and had a very mixed evening. It was a Monday night so it was quiet and we were one of only a handful of tables. We were a party of four and there were no tables any larger than ours in that evening. We were seated quickly and that was about the one and only thing that happened all night with any kind of urgency. Our orders were taken and we were waiting 20 minutes or more for our first round of drinks. About half way through this, we were informed that three of the four meals we had ordered were sold out (something you'd think we'd have been informed of at the time of ordering . We thought we could quench our thirst with some water whilst waiting for our drinks but sadly no one ever came over to refill our glasses. When the food finally arrived it was delicious and I couldn't fault it at all (even if it wasn't my first choice on the menu! , so that made up for lack of service. We ordered a dessert each although only 3 of them arrived. My friend had to ask for her coffee which also didn't have any signs of showing and then when her dessert didn't show she just gave up on it (it was never put through the system . I ordered a glass of red wine, specifying the wine and was given a glass of what I assume was house red at least I wasn't mis charged for it as it was cheaper than the one I ordered! Even paying the bill was an ordeal, taking us a while to get it and then having to go through line by line to see if any of the food we ordered and didn't get hadn't been taken off (there was one additional meal on the bill . All in all a bit of a shambles but at least the delicious food and the wonderful company meant it didn't dampen our evening too much. Don't think I'd come back on a quiet night again, seems the service staff take it as a sign to disappear."
