"This is the best Wetherspoons pub in Newcastle. I met friends here when I arrived in Newcastle and we had a great time sitting outside shooting the breeze, having a laugh and catching up over a few beers. I went back the next morning for breakfast and a couple of beers while waiting for mates to arrive a wee bit later. I found the staff to be very and efficient so I'm a wee bit at a loss where earlier reviews comment on rude and unhelpful staff, but each to their own I suppose. I'd happily recommend this pub to anyone visiting Newcastle it was busy on both days that I visited, mostly populated by locals which is always a good sign and recommendation."

Great spot for drinks, especially if you are a student, as it is close to Newcastle and Northumbria Universities. The food is nice and affordable. The staff is friendly and helpful. Opt to sit outside if the weather is good.

Busy and the layout takes a bit of getting used to. Popular when I visited, Saturday 1.30pm ish, on a non march day. I'd liked to have seen more staff behind the bar serving, but that's me. Service wasn't bad but could be improved.

Large 2 floor pub with outdoor covered dining/driving area. Can get very busy, but has some great deals and plenty of beers on tap, including very good priced real ales. £2.19 for a tasty Northumbrian ale). You need a map for the toilets though

Fantastic pub with a wide selection of Ales Lagers ghosts at great prices as it is in Newcastle city center. Can be quite busy on weekends, but there are many staff behind the bar to be served quickly. Here too, food is good, standard for spoons, as their food is always very good. Can beat this place at prices. View menu

We took 4 grandchildren for food and we had a fraughty cocktail (delicious) 1 child is autistic and will not eat anything except McDonald's..we explained this to the beautiful lad that came to advise us, we could not have the happy meal in. He was sweet and said, "That's good." This made our night as other places in downtown were not so understood.

Been coming he for years typical always busy but have noticed on the last couple of occasions the cleanliness is terrible. I dropped something on the floor near a radiator and I don't think they had been cleaned in months the dust and grime was terrible. Also the fireplace in the back of the pub is also filthy I know it's a busy pub but surely the cleaning staff are in before it opens

Newcastle on a wet and dreery day turn up to a wetherspoons pub 'The Five Swans ', absolutely lovely interior and welcoming atmosphere. Arrived here with a family of six in early so accessable seating and plenty of room. Service was beyond what I expected from a young university gentleman with superb manners. Fabulous drinks and hot food. So look forward to returning here again. Truly grateful, thank you all. View menu

I'm still in Five swans, I need to give feedback before I go because I'm very happy with the service and the amount of food. I was in a few Wetherspoon. But this is the best among others. I ordered a big breakfast. The food was very hot, I just loved the crusty soft toast. fresh breakfast . Good quality. And they kept the place so clean and tidy and good for everyone. The employees are excellent. Very fast service. Brilliant. I had a best and filled breakfast

This obspoons pub named The Five Swans is strategically placed on a busy corner within the St Marys Place. Since the weather was happy enough, we decided to sit on the enlarged terrace. It was a perfect place to relax after a busy shopping performance in Greys Street. I chose one of her pizzas and enjoyed a glass of rose with it. I find their prices really reasonable and the food delicious and varied. The decor is a little shady vintage chic and gives a homely feeling.
