"Our first trip here was on a Sunday night, the restaurant we intended to go to was closed and boy was I pleased. The staff accepted us at a very late time and were very happy to still serve us. I had fish and chips and believe me the large is large my partner had the homemade Thai prawn curry (remember it's a thai dish wish chillies so will be hot). We were so impressed with the food we went back on the Tuesday, this time I had the Thai curry and my partner had the Mexican chimichanga . Oh my god both were unbelievable so full of flavours a gastrominic delight. I will insist we go for another holiday to Shrewsbury just so I can have his dish. I can't praise it enough and the staff were all so helpful which made for 2 lovely evenings especially as our dog came with us who also loved his sausages. Thank you again for the wonderful food"

Excellent and varied menu and every one of our family of four Sunday meals was cooked to perfection: a delicious roast, chimichangas and an entrecôte. Great service too. Would thoroughly recommend

Why is this pub not rammed, it was an exceptional lunch dining experience. The staff actually knew about drinks and food and were bright eyed and friendly. We lingered for hours because it was just so relaxing. A real difference from all to many same old same old pub grub experiences, well done.

We enjoyed our experience so much that we dined at this restaurant twice in just 2 days! Our Saturday evening meal was good, but the Sunday lunch exceeded our expectations. I highly recommend trying the Sunday lunch, as the portion size is generous and the dishes are very tasty. The desserts we tried were all fantastic as well. This is a wonderful restaurant that is also dog-friendly.

I was extremely impressed with the spacious car park and wheelchair accessibility at this restaurant, as I am disabled. The staff were welcoming and friendly, and the meal was excellent. The dessert was also delicious. Although I have forgotten the name of our waitress (as she is new), she was interactive and made my friend's birthday celebration even more special. I highly recommend this venue and will definitely be returning in the future.

The food and service were amazing at this restaurant. I had soup, turkey stroganoff, and cheesecake, all of which were deliciously presented. The service was friendly and attentive. The only downside was the excessive noise level, making it difficult to hear and hold a conversation. Despite this, the food and service were exceptional, and I would consider coming back for another try. However, the noise did detract from the overall dining experience, especially if you are looking for a special meal.

The food was a bit hit and miss My mum had a starter, which was pork belly, she said it was very tender and tasty. For the mains, my mum and me had the Thai crispy chilli beef. It was very chewy and very sweet. I had chips, but they were thick and tasted of potato, not chips. My mum had rice, it was too soft. However, the salad was fresh and tasty, it had a nice dressing on it. We had roulade for a sweet. It was very soft on the outside, not how it should be . It tasted like lemon curd inside, the ice cream was tasty. It was a disappointment but the service was good and the restaurant had a good atmosphere

We booked on line and the system worked well. On arrival we were shown to our table and given menus. We ordered drinks and were pleased with the great choice of local beers. Two members of our party ordered the Thai Crispy Chilli Beef with fries instead of chips. They agreed it was excellent but couldn’t finish the generous portion. Fortunately they were happy to package up the leftovers so we could take them away. My Ribeye Steak was cooked to perfection just as I’d requested and very tender. I enjoyed syrup sponge pudding and custard which brought back memories of old fashioned puddings. The honeycomb cheesecake was also a crowd pleaser. It was very busy while we were there but service was...

"Beautifull hotel, I guess one can call it trendy , but I just don 't understand how they can justify the price £130/night and that most of the time will go to £160 as they run out of entry level ones. So I guess the answer is there because people pay for it! But let 's just make some relevant comparisons Birmingham Grand literally in the heart of the city, brand new, 5* hotel, with all recently decorated rooms to the highest standard is £135 15 for breakfast. Needless to say rooms are air conditioned, fully equipped and genuinelly very posh. Hotel has lifts, has porters and the service is top notch. The Lion is barelly 4* just for trendiness alone, but the actual quality of furnishing is closer to 3*, has no lift and you will be lugging your bags up and down mutiple flights of stairs (and I mean multiple like 8 going up and down) trought narrow corridors to mediocre room (nothing wrong with it just mediocre) which isn 't even air conditioned. Sorry, I just don 't get it. That said restaurant is good fully fine dining if you are into it. Althought in my oppinion it doesn 't fit into the rest of the hotel. So it is ~3.5* hotel which is very youghtfull and trendy and then you get 5* fine dining with very tiny portions for the dinner (which is not criticism of restaurant, it is very good on it 's own). In conclussion I just don 't get what niche this hotel is filling, who stays there and why. The price for the rooms should be £75 95 tops. Shreesbury is not exactly prime tourists destination either (at least shouldn 't). But it seems it is working out for them, I just would not recommend it, I would not stay in it again and it is definatelly not worth the price. Neither in isolation, nor in comparison."
