"The Froize is lovely! We are arrived to a cosy and welcoming bar for a pre dinner drink served by a friendly lady. We went through to our table and were taken aback by the food on display on the hot table. It looked and...smelled delicious and it was really hard to choose. It seemed like the chef and host David has figured out everyone’s or so favourite meals and then added his own knowledge of flavours to take them to another level. Puddings were another tough choice and didn’t disappoint. Don’t confuse The Froize with a buffet or carvery, it is so much more than that. It’s a restaurant where you can see and smell the dishes before you choose and then you’re served by the chef himself. The tables are well spaced so you don’t feel squeezed in or crowded and the atmosphere is quite special. I could write much more but I will just say that The Froize is perfect in every way and give my thanks to the team for a lovely evening. It was our first visit but most definitely will be the first of many more."

I had lunch this morning with friends. A great selection, roast beef, roast pork, salmon, lamb. pheasant. and lots more. I had breast of chicken with lots of lovely vegetables followed by Christmas pudding with a choice of custard, cream or ice cream.

Fantastic little find. David Grimwood is a superb chef, and produces good quality tasty grub, sourced locally. Also has the “Folk at the Froize” evenings with folk bands and tapas, a real bargain with fantastic entertainment and new finds, National and international.

I am a retired restaurant owner, we live miles from what has now become our favorite pub restaurant . The long drive is rewarded by very friendly staff and then through to the buffet serving area to a beautiful display of superb top quality...food, served by the owner, chef and a man, who takes a personal pride in how he sources his supplies and how well it is cooked, has a cheeky and pleasant way of telling you what each main contains. David has a life time experience in serving food and his passion and love of food results in how he runs this very successful restaurant. Warwick-Jennings Thompson.

Seeing for the first time the ‘POOR’ reviews (occupational hazard sadly) with most ‘batted away’ professionally by ‘The Froize’ team in response. THIS is from a whole Fluffle of quote.... ‘happy bunnies’ taking little notice of dissenters (voices in the wilderness most certainly) !! We...first visited The Froize a couple of years back, by recommendation AND in the company of close friends. Despite being deep in the Suffolk countryside it was and remains an easy drive. Proving to be worth every moment of our frequent returns, I can add nothing to the volume of earlier reviews from satisfied customers !? Save that there seems to be an ever growing number of them !!! ....Must be appreciation of...

"This wasn’t our first visit (the previous occasion was more positive than this) but this was really quite poor. Problem after problem, service was poor and just not very welcoming. Firstly, drinks weren’t available issues with draft, but then bottles weren’t available either. So there was a very limited selection of drinks on offer and the staff weren’t proactive in advising what was available. So it was request and receive a no! Secondly, the food was poor. The starters were shocking. Really quite bad. There was a bit of redemption from some of the mains, but we elected to not proceed with anything else as it wasn’t great. We had to wait ages for drinks and foods to arrive despite the fact that the restaurant was practically empty and many staff present. Frequently there were 3 staff at the back of the room standing about chatting, but they weren’t attentive to our needs. They didn’t check around the room to see if guests required additional drinks or require plates clearing. They didn’t check to see how the food was and when we complained regarding a starter they simply didn’t know how to handle it. When the draft beer came back on there was no proactive behaviour in returning to the table and letting us know so that more drinks could be ordered. Drinks were poured in wrong glasses, plates were cleared whilst people were still eating and then not cleared when they needed to be! Simply put the staff working had no idea on what table service should be perhaps they had received no training which is a major failing when the restaurant is part of a hotel. It was not welcoming. The restaurant was freezing cold. The service was really very poor and the food disappointing. They also don’t take dogs which in Aldeburgh is a bit weird. There is plenty of space and the tables are large so they would not be in the way. We won’t be returning."
