"A pre booked late Sunday lunch at this Inn turned out to be a very pleasurable experience. Quality of the food was excellent, a classic prawn cocktail was delicious and a roast lamb lunch that had perfectly cooked vegetables was really good value. However in our opinion, what really made the afternoon for us were the delightful young waiter and waitress who served us with humour and efficiency. If we lived nearer this venue would definitely be one that we would visit again. Really hope that the management realise the quality they have in their staff. Date of visit was October 9th"

A lovely welcome for seven of us at this friendly pub. Excellent fish and chips and other dishes that suited our friend who needed a gluten free meal .

Met friends here for lunch, not on our doorstep unfortunately but well worth the 90 minute drive for us. Menu content was excellent, food and service great. Would love to be there on a sunny day as they have lovely garden.

Remains a firm favourite for good honest pub food at a reasonable price. At two of our most recent visits all of our party thoroughly enjoyed both the food and the experience. Very attentive service which will certainly encourage us to return soon. My own...

Lovely pub both inside and out , with friendly smiley staff but very poor food. Roast potatoes like greasy bullets, with not a crunch in sight, an odd selection of veg with random spices thrown in which added nothing, horrible Eton Mess and beef like an old shoe. Such a let down

Been a while since we last visited ,but were pleased to find that its excellent standards have been maintained .Menu is varied and reasonably priced .Selection of wine and spirits is extensive and not overpriced. Good to know that an old favourite is still as good as ever .Does need new chairs as they are beginning to sag

We were a party of 10 who ate lunch here. The menu was good something for everyone from pub faves like steak pie to ham egg and chips also burgers and steaks. A good selection. We all chose something different and we all enjoyed our meals. The portions were large so come hungry. We all had dessert they were very good- treacle tart chocolate fudge cake and sticky toffee pudding. It was all cooked well and good value for money would recommend.

Absolutely brilliant pub a gem. We had booked in to stay the night for a party nearby, arrived at lunchtime and switched the engine off for 24 hrs Had a great lunch, with a busy pub garden hosting a large family gathering, couples having lunch, dogs wandering happily around and just a overall feeling of the world is ok! Great comfy rooms, lovely breakfast, and friendy staff Went for a stroll over the surrounding fields before leaving, bucolic bliss I am a fussy stayer so this is praise indeed well deserved Thank you

Have been visiting this pub for almost 16 years now and in all those times we have never been disappointed with our meal. The Furze Bush is just how you imagine the perfect village pub to be with friendly attentive staff, good beer, good food and a nice atmosphere plus a garden . Called in to eat at lunch time today and ,as ever, the food was excellent. Would strongly recommend a visit for all the reasons already noted and also because in these uncertain financial times this type of business needs and deserves to be supported.

En-route from Kidlington, Oxfordshire to the South coast on a Sunday, we phoned ahead to double-check if they were still serving roasts at 15:30 and yes, indeed they were. This place is only about 10 minutes drive from the A34 turn-off and what a great find. Cosy, character, country pub with plenty of parking and outdoor seating, and excellent food. Good choice on menu including GF ice-creams. The staff were friendly and very attentive. Hope to return some time and stay in their B B rooms as would be a good base for the area's highlights such as Highclere Castle.

"Visited today for lunch and probably wouldn't rush back although I'm aware there's recently been a change in management so maybe a few teething troubles. Messaged via their Facebook page to book a table, no response. Never was a problem in the past. The pub was very cold with no heating at all so we had to keep our coats on. Several tables near us commented the same and all sat with coats on. The coffee machine was out of order so only instant available, which wasn't pleasant. We waited a long time for someone to come and take our food order, in the end I went and found someone. Two of us wanted the steak ale pie. Only then were we told it wasn't available. The chap said we should've been told when we were given the menus, well it was him that gave them to us! With that he said he'd give us a few minutes to choose something else and walked away. He didn't come back so I had to go and ask to place our order again. At no point did anyone ask if we had any food allergies, which I thought was a requirement these days? The food was really good, credit to the chef; it was well cooked, well presented, large portions and very tasty. We did notice that two other tables waited a very long time for their food and had to chase it up, so glad we ordered when we did. We would have stayed longer and had a dessert but it was so cold we couldn't relax and enjoy it. We were next to radiator and we did ask one of the waiters if it was possible to turn it on and he said he'd see what he could do, which was nothing as it remained stone cold! When our plates were taken we asked for the bill, but it didn't arrive. Eventually a young lady arrived with the card machine and asked us to pay, which we said we'd be delighted to do once we received our bill! When we left we walked past 3 different members of staff, all of whom had waited on our table at some point during our visit. Not one of them made an effort to say thank you or goodbye. There was no warm ambiance or friendly feeling in the pub, it felt cold (literally) and unwelcoming. I also felt that a couple of members of staff waiting on tables looked rather scruffy, none of them wore a logo'd t-shirt which I feel the staff should do as they're representing the pub or brewery. It was difficult to distinguish the staff from the customers!"
