"A combination of a quiet day and messed up trains meant I could re visit a pub that I haven’t been in for nearly 10 years. It was just as I remembered it friendly and welcoming, with a real historic vibe. A pint of well kept and excellently served Joule’s Pale Ale, and as it was lunchtime I ordered a roast pork sandwich. This quickly arrived, loaded with pork, stuffing and apple sauce on two huge slices of granary bread, with some chips, salad, coleslaw and gravy on the side. £13.75 for a delicious sandwich, with a perfect pint in a fantastic pub. Less than ten minutes walk from the train station. Definitely recommended"

beautiful old pub, large selection at joules ales and camps. amazing eating and cheeseboard from this world! the best pub I have visited in the opposite. the live singer was brilliant!

what a cool place. I just wanted me to live closer. the joule beer was a first for us and we really liked it. Unfortunately, on Sunday only a selection of cheese and brot and crackers is served. it was still excellent. the personal was friendly and accommodating.

This is my favourite pub in the world, it's such a cosy and welcoming place with great beer and food. Not to mention the amazing roaring fire, any cold weary travellers will be warm within 2 minutes! We highly recommend this place and look forward to going again soon.

We arrived here needing to eat, and found the kitchen closed BUT they offered a sharing cheese board of 4 cheeses with large pork pie, pate, very generous supply of bread, butter, pickles. All was delicious and Joules beer and a smiling barman completed an excellent meal. Thank you

great homemade food. around the corner of the stoke railway station I nippled into the glebe for a place of lunch. I was impressed by the pleasant environment and the polite service of the barmaid. I chose the chilli con carne and it was one of the best ive ever had, very cheap. I will soon try out the rest of the menu. a

What a delight, great place and service was going the extra mile. I walked in and my glasses steamed up and was trying to unfog them by wafting them around. The member of staff went off, came back with a napkin to clear them, how thoughtful! We had their cheese, a large chunk with soft granary bread, a drink, prefect end to an evening. Nice and chatty and informative, thank you.

What an amazing pub this not far from Stoke station. The sharing platter was tremendous value that happily fed a decent sized group of us. The pork pies are massive, loads of cheese to choose from and a mountain of bread and crackers. Reasonably priced pub that has plenty of character. The staff friendly and even ordered me a taxi when I had to leave. Can't recommend this place enough and look forward to returning one day.

had an unlikely meeting of friends for something on Thursday night. I have visited this beautiful place for years and the staff is beautiful and the beer great, it is always a beautiful mood here. I thought I would immerse myself in the 'divine swine' burger and I must say it was well described, divine it was, the burgers were all very well received. if we had known that it was 2 for one on Wednesday, then we would have tried to arrange ourselves! yet it was a great night and we will certainly be back. Thank you.
