"Our group of four visited Ludlow for their spring food festival without knowing what to expect. Feeling a bit greedy, we decided to try The Green Café, which was highly recommended by our B&B host. The café was charming with outdoor seating, but we chose to sit indoors due to the chilly weather. The space was small, seating about 25-30 people, and was always busy, so reservations are recommended. We shared 4 entrees: Gnocchi with Italian style pork sausage ragu and a green salad, a fantastic beet salad with avocado and caramelized onions, and Tagliatelle with asparagus, tomato, anchovy, chili, and green olive sauce. Everything was delicious. For dessert, we indulged in lemon polenta cake with Greek yogurt and pavlova, both light and tasty. The Green Café exceeded our expectations and set the tone for a fantastic food weekend in Ludlow. Despite the distance from London, I will definitely return and highly recommend this affordable and incredible restaurant to others."

Green room has gone a bit downhill since owner changed opening times its not as it use to be. Most of the nice staff have gone, sometimes you walk by and see produce for the cocktails outside in all weather until someone takes it in, who doesnt like tommys sneeze germs on your lime ‍. View menu

The Green Cafe is situated in a beautiful location next to the River Teme, near Dinham Bridge and Ludlow Castle in the UK. During our visit, the sun was shining, and customers were enjoying snacks and drinks at the takeaway counter or relaxing on the patio. The small interior accommodates around 25 guests, so booking a table is recommended. The menu changes regularly to showcase seasonal ingredients. I ordered a delicious omelette with salad, accompanied by a refreshing rhubarb and apple drink. My wife tried the penne pasta with tomato sauce, which was slightly bitter. We also indulged in the lemon yoghurt polenta cake and the coffee cake, with mixed reviews - the polenta cake was light and...

Pretty disappointed with this place. We are staying at the resort attached. My wife was very keen to go after finding out that the restaurant is run by masterchef winner James Nathan, however she is now questioning the credibility of masterchef! Starters were very simple, small and overpriced a goats cheese dish which looked like the leftover crumbs from another goats cheese dish, followed immediately by an over sweet, syrupy lemongrass and ginger sorbet intended as a palette cleanser but left me with a sugary taste in my mouth until the main eventually arrived. Overcooked rump steak and some bland dry ox cheek. My wife had the chicken dish that James made in the masterchef semi final which...

"Beautifull hotel, I guess one can call it trendy , but I just don 't understand how they can justify the price £130/night and that most of the time will go to £160 as they run out of entry level ones. So I guess the answer is there because people pay for it! But let 's just make some relevant comparisons Birmingham Grand literally in the heart of the city, brand new, 5* hotel, with all recently decorated rooms to the highest standard is £135 15 for breakfast. Needless to say rooms are air conditioned, fully equipped and genuinelly very posh. Hotel has lifts, has porters and the service is top notch. The Lion is barelly 4* just for trendiness alone, but the actual quality of furnishing is closer to 3*, has no lift and you will be lugging your bags up and down mutiple flights of stairs (and I mean multiple like 8 going up and down) trought narrow corridors to mediocre room (nothing wrong with it just mediocre) which isn 't even air conditioned. Sorry, I just don 't get it. That said restaurant is good fully fine dining if you are into it. Althought in my oppinion it doesn 't fit into the rest of the hotel. So it is ~3.5* hotel which is very youghtfull and trendy and then you get 5* fine dining with very tiny portions for the dinner (which is not criticism of restaurant, it is very good on it 's own). In conclussion I just don 't get what niche this hotel is filling, who stays there and why. The price for the rooms should be £75 95 tops. Shreesbury is not exactly prime tourists destination either (at least shouldn 't). But it seems it is working out for them, I just would not recommend it, I would not stay in it again and it is definatelly not worth the price. Neither in isolation, nor in comparison."

"Open since 1970 and located on Mardol, one of Shrewsbury’s oldest streets @thecurryhouseshrewsbury serves locally sourced ingredients married with traditional spices and chillies from the Indian subcontinent, a match made in heaven. 5 5 Recommended Price No better way to kick off proceedings but with popadoms, chutneys and fresh onion salad. On to appetisers and there are so many tempting dishes to choose with many of these exclusive to the curry house. Our first time trying Pani Puri. A sweet and spicy hot street food snack filled with chickpeas and tamarind sat on a bed of crunchy, nutty Bombay mix. With a building but pleasant heat, definitely something everyone should try. The quality and freshness of the seafood was exceptional. Spicy king prawns were huge and cooked to perfection. Charred on the outside for flavour but juicy and meaty. Trio of King scallops were beautifully tender and of a good size with sweetness from the tamarind liquor. Lamb rogan Josh tender lamb shoulder in a medium hot ginger tomato and onion sauce. A strong take on a traditional favourite of ours. Fresh from the Tandoor a generous mix of marinaded chicken, lamb, king prawns and a chargrilled lamb chop. The Tandoori deluxe massalla sauce was the perfect blend of sweetness melting into a subtle heat which brought the dish together perfectly. The curry house takes traditional dishes and flavours from the Indian subcontinent and elevates them to a level beyond expectations. Thank you for our invite to share the exciting menu created with passion and creativity. "Fantastic range of small dishes and meals for lunch and dinner. The menu ranges from scandi to oriental, so something for everyone. The menu is clearly marked with allergens, including what meals can be adapted. The chicken is halal and vegan and vegetarian options are plentiful. The cocktail and mocktail menu is great and they do one of the best espresso martinis in Shrewsbury. The decor is modern and comfortable and there is plenty of space. As a wheelchair user, I can get into the ground floor and to a table. The outside seats are up a small step, but the whole front of the building is a retractable wall of windows, so I can still get the feeling of eating outside in good weather. The service is friendly and knowledgeable about allergies, the menu and the wine list. The staff are helpful and unobtrusive. The only difficulty for me (hence the 4 star review) is that the accessible bathroom is next door, in their sister bar, Libertine. Unfortunately, libertine isn't open the same hours as HotRS, so I can only use it at certain times. The ladies does have a lock on the door, so staff have cleared the ladies toilets, which allowed me to take my chair in and lock the door. I had to walk a couple of steps to get into a stall but my chair was safely with me. Of course, there is also no alarm cord, but they stood outside the door so would have heard if I shouted for help."
