"This is local to us and has been on our radar to visit. It clearly boasts on the website No tiny portions, deconstructed dishes, frills or foam – just superb food What more could you ask for. We went with friends on a Saturday evening and everything started positively until the food arrived. One of our party ordered the duck parfait, followed by the venison cottage pie. When the parfait was served it can only be described as a very very meager portion, tiny even. The dish is served with bread which was the thinnest wafers of bread possible, it 's amazing how they managed to cut it so thin. This was highlighted to the waiter how meager the dish was who acknowledged it was a tiny portion and he seemed embarrassed by it. When the main course arrived the venison cottage pie was served in a small metal dish with a very thin layer of meat but topped with a large portion of potato, for a dish that costs 22.00 it was truly awful value. We complained politely and my friend ordered a steak instead, a flat iron steak was presented, which was very tough. By now the waiter had transferred our table to who I guess was a manager and we were offered free deserts which we all declined as we were concerned this would be another tiny portion. It is fair to say that the rest of us had a decent meal, with realistic portion sizes, and were on the whole satisfied with our evening but it was a shame our friends meal was such awful value. The Greyhound are trying to establish a reputation as a gastro pub, they certainly need to review either that meal offering or change the website to be more honest."

Lovely cosy restaurant with polite efficient staff. Ordered burgers which were perfect, not greasy or sloppy and lovely chunky chips. Nice Chilean Chardonnay. Car park spaces a little tight.

Went for Sunday lunch. The restaurant was busy so a great ambiance. The staff were amazing, friendly and helpful. The roast was huge, medium rare beef with loads of vegetables including cauliflower cheese. Couldn’t manage dessert but they looked good.

Had an absolutely lovely time visiting for a celebratory dinner a couple of weeks ago. The atmosphere was lovely and so were the staff. Our host Jess was incredibly attentive and gave some delicious food/drink pairing recommendations. Would recommend here to anyone!

The Greyhound has the most delicious food (was particularly impressed by how much of it was locally sourced) and some of the best and most attentive staff I’ve experienced in a long time. Jess was our server and was amazing, the atmosphere was wonderful and food and drinks were so yummy. Will definitely be returning

Went for Sunday lunch a few weeks ago and it was truly a treat. You are really spoilt with full plates and as much extras (potatoes, cauliflower cheese, vegs as you'd like! Probably the best roast we've had in a very long time. Excellent service, specially from Jess, who couldn't do enough to look after us. This place will definitely become a regular for us! :

Quite rare nowadays to find somewhere that does a nicely prepared interesting vegetarian course (that isn’t lasagne, veggie burger, or risotto! The grilled cauliflower was a lovely thoughtfully, presented dish. We also really enjoyed the cocktails. The atmosphere is lovely as well. Service was great. What a little treasure! I’m looking forward to coming back in the New Year. View menu

After a previous visit during the week in July we visited on a Sunday for my fathers Birthday. Unfortunately the Sunday menu/chef leaves a lot to be desired after their full a la carte. During the week the food is outstanding, for a Sunday the restaurant was extremely busy which is great for business but not for the customer. The red mullet and squid and steak tartare starters were very good but the oysters were tiny and cheese soufflé dry. Roasts were distinctly average and veg dry and lukewarm warm at best, it felt mass produced and not the quality previously provided. It's a real shame as the restaurant has proven to be good when quiet with the full menu but avoid on a Sunday where for th...

What happened? The last time I was here I would have said this restaurant was reaching Michelin star status but our meal yesterday was completely lack lustre. We waited ages for our opening drink order. Whilst two of our groups starters were excellent the tiny oysters served and a dry but tasty cheese soufflé really disappointed. When the mains arrived the standard didn’t compare to many roast meals we have enjoyed elsewhere at half the price. Also, the pork crackling was seriously missing its’ target for pork crackling lovers. My husband enjoyed his plaice main course but my gnocchi felt as though it had been standing for a while before being brought to the table . Even the cheeseboard left...
