"Recommended to us, we got lost coming from Sudbury as we missed the turning for 'The Belchamps ' but once we got back on track found ourselves in a very lovely little village, where the pub was situated just across from the green. Didn 't seem to be anything else here, no shops etc but a very nice place none the less. Very attractive pub and very traditional inside lots of locals round the bar which was lovely to see as even after Covid lockdown this seems something unique these days. The food was very good, we both went for the Chicken stuffed with brie. The only reason we haven 't given 5/5 is that the service wasn 't great when we arrived we stood around and eventually had to ask if it was OK to just sit anywhere, once seated we were served quite efficiently but it was a bit lackluster. Our drinks order was wrong and the food took 25 minutes, even thought there were only 2 other tables occupied in the place. In saying that the food was worth the wait and all the serving staff were very young so can be forgiven for the service not matching the food. We probably will go back and would not discourage anybody giving it a go."

This traditional English pub never fails. I have eaten the most delicious main course that I am sure Michelin star restaurants would be proud of! I have never been disappointed. Roll on the Christmas menu!

Turned up after a ride in suffolk in our caterham, asked if we could just have a starter and was told yes. Th e staff could not have been more helpful. Stayed 2 hours outside in the sun and will go back again

The food was good especially the blackberry and apple crumble, although it was slightly expensive. I had the house red to go with my meal. Service was as good as it should be, however the table was badly positioned. We were a party of ten and not everybody could leave the table unless one or two people moved first. My conclusion this was an ok experience but there are several others I would choose first.

The carpark is not over large but we found a spare with ease, once inside the bar was happily full yet we were greeted by the bar staff, we had booked a table, which was checked and we where shown ot the table. our drinks arrived quickly with out menus, we placed our food order, most tables were in use so we had expected a delay but the food arrived in good time, and it was nicely cooked, the chef rely knows how to cook a good Tee Bone. Good at the table service with a smile.

Cracking looking thatched pub, oak beamed, low ceilinged, nooks and crannies. Suggest you insist your booked table is not crammed next to the bar where loud 'gobshite ' locals hold court. Could not hear ourselves think, let alone chat to each other. Asked to move table, advised none available. I apologised saying that their allocation for us was not appropriate and we would have to cancel our booking. We were then offered a table in the sparsely populated quiet restaurant area. Sunday roast was good, just a thoughtless poor start due to trying to squeeze in one more cover without a consideration to the ambience and dining experience for their customers.

We were a party of four and our friends had booked a table for dinner. When they booked the member of staff had the courtesy and professionalism to advise that there would be a large party of diners and that it would be best if we could dine early evening rather than a 7.30pm slot. The table was booked for 6.45pm. On arrival we were greeted by friendly staff and shown to our table. The menu is on a large chalkboard in the bar. We opted for the stuffed chicken x 2, and 2 x suet puddings. Delicious, wonderful favours and well presented. We managed a sticky toffee pudding, chocolate brownie and a scoop of stem ginger ice cream. Again couldn't fault these. Coffees were not great though and we di...

I was looking for somewhere local for my wife and I to visit and have a couple of drinks. By total luck, my research found this wonderful pub. It, along with the village it is in are the absolute quintessential country setting we dream of finding. There is an excellent selection of wines, beers and spirits to choose from. After making our choices, we could not ignore the great range of home cooked food on offer. We chose the cheeseboard to share and then a couple of deserts. The selection of cheese was not just out of the fridge and portions very generous. The wonderfully fresh and trimmed celery sticks along with ample bread and excellent biscuits made this a sumptuous feast which we both e...

"We came here on a last minute hunt to find a Sunday roast with family without much expectations. However when entering its a lovely set up and we were greeted by Lee and Alison who looked after us for the meal who just to begin were absolutely brilliant, they really care about the customers and make this place extra special. Now for the food you can get a 2 or 3 course meal so everybody made various selections but all had starters. Most went for the Aarancina which isn't your usual starter with a Sunday roast but for here it packs alot of flavour and is a great way to start the meal. They have a great selection of alcoholic beverages I went for a simple beer. For the main roasts we had a variety of meats I wanted the pork but sadly they had no crackling which was half the reason for ordering but if I am being honest after eating the meal it wasn't missed out the meat was tasty full of flavour but the sides were the key. The roast potatoes were of a top level usually when you eat out they are never as good as eating at home, the Yorkshire were huge and tasty, gravy brilliant with plenty to go around and lots of veg and cauliflower cheese on the side. Honestly this was excellent a really good roast probably the best I have ever ate in a resteraunt. Some of the others had the lamb shank which was huge and had great feedback but the beef was great and so was everything else. So yes check it out eat in and eat some great food in a nice setting with absolutely brilliant service you won't be disappointed."

"What can I say….We held our wedding dinner and impromptu party ! on the mezzanine floor and had the time of our lives with our nearest and dearest. It’s been a pretty special place for us as we dined at the House by Hilly Gant to check the area out before moving from London and so as we were having a small wedding of 22 people we felt this was the best place to have our wedding. Suzanne and the team could not have done anything more to make our afternoon and evening so perfect. The food was outstanding and our guests were very impressed Harry and his cocktail making skills are second to none. Huge shout out to all the kitchen staff who’s attention to detail and timings were spot on. Leading up to the day itself Suzanne took charge and offered her expert advice on how to dress the room and made so much effort with our requirements. 3 children and 1 baby as part of the guest list! . The beef in particular was spectacular and the chocolate fondant was sublime. We honestly didn’t want to leave. After dinner Suzanne was able to crank the music up and we had a little party ensuring all the guests downstairs were still well looked after our friends were actually dining downstairs and were able to join us towards the latter part of the evening! From the bottom of our hearts thank you so much to everyone for making it so special for us. I’m not surprised that you were recently awarded your second rosette, totally deserved. For anyone looking for quality food, locally sourced, and beautifully executed this is the place to come. SEE YOU SOON and thank you again x"
