"I went to the Galley because it was local to where my son lives and I was visiting with my father and another son. I ordered a starter, no one else and asked for it to be served with the main meals. It came significantly before our main meals, not sure why. But our main complaint is that when the main meals were served, it was clear that they hadn't been in the microwave for long enough. For each of us, apart from a small centre of steaming red cabbage and warm meat, everything was stone cold. The french beans in a separate dish were particularly cold, to the point I put them in my mouth and just had to take them out. Portions were a good size, the waitress was friendly enough although at the end told us that we'd been informed it was cash only, when we definitely weren't! The gents loo smelt pretty badly; the rear of the building is on the riverside, from which it was obviously accessed, but we couldn't open the door or see inside. A simple sign in the back window would have meant I wouldn't have had to climb on a picnic table to see if they were open! There was a general lack of care in the building, the food preparation and the customer service. At nearly £65 for 4 roast meals and a starter, we felt the value for money was terrible. Definitely never going again, which is a shame given my son lives within a stone's throw."

Went in for a roast and it was amazing! Fabulous roast potatoes, sirloin of beef, Yorkshire pudding to die for and a creme brulé to top it all off..what's not to love!

The Galley is a lovely cafe right beside the floating harbour. Great place for breakfast, lunch or enjoy their lovely array of own baked cakes. Only open Friday to Sunday's and they do an amazing Sunday roast too.

Good basic food, only gave 3stars as portions are quite small and it took a while to be served/acknowledged when we first arrived. The food was basic but nice though, surroundings are lovely and the waiter was friendly. Nice lil outdoor area by the water too. Nice place for a stroll after.

Called in whilst out for walk round docks. This is a small intimate restaurant, with helpful and cheerful staff. The Sunday lunch was fantastic, we had two sorts of roast beef, stock gravy, roast carrots, potatoes, red cabbage and creamed cauliflower. I’d put as the best I’ve had, washed down with smooth Merlot. View menu

Great breakfasts, interesting light bites, everything from poached duck eggs to Ploughmans with flair, and stomach stretching Sunday lunches with starters and home made desserts and cakes. All ingredients of high quality and restaurant chef level cooking. Welcoming service and efforts always made to fit people in if possible.

My partner and I went to The Gally for a bit to eat at the harbour festival, we haven’t been there before and came across it by accident. The customer service we received was second to non, the cafe itself was very cosy get had a lovely rustic feel and the food was fantastic. I had a eggs benedict and my partner had a scrambled eggs on toast. They are a very friendly LGBT establishment and I would highly recommend to anyone.

I went on a Saturday noon with friends for brunch and it left me with a good impression. We got the galley breakfast (tomato, 2 eggs, bacon, sausage, beans, mushroom, fried toast), the eggs Benedict and scrambled eggs with salmon which I really enjoyed and recommend. Each one was about £8. I really liked the nice cups they use for tea and coffee and stuff is really friendly. Not a 5 star because the room was cold and the decoration was not something special. This place was hired out for a work Christmas party and the staff did an amazing job. Everyone agreed that the food was delicious (impressive considering the size of the group). We had the whole place to ourselves and had great fun trying on all the hats which can be found hanging around the venue. The staff were professional, relaxed and friendly thank you all! Would definitely recommend this for a private booking and I'm looking forward to trying it for a Sunday roast some time soon!

Having told us when we arrived that they would start serving lunch in 10 mins, when we went to ask again half an hour later because we still hadn 't been offered menus they told us that they wouldn 't be able to serve us for another 2 and a half hours 'because they were full ' despite the restaurant literally being empty. We made it clear when we arrived that we were looking for a place to eat and wouldn 't have ordered drinks if we 'd known we couldn 't eat. We ordered 3 coffees and an orange juice. the coffees were absolutely tiny (about 3 mouthfuls) and cold, the americano tasted like dirty water. The orange juice must have been watered down because it too had no flavour. When we went ins...

"Visited here in Sept 23 for an executive dinner that we were hosting for various senior business leaders. We booked out the whole venue, which was the perfect size and atmosphere for the intimate and exclusive feel that we wanted, plus a convenient location. The TV that shows into the kitchen was fascinating, and the record player was put to use towards the end of the evening! Caroline from the venue helped us organise the event in advance and was great to deal with. We were fortunate with the weather so were able to enjoy a welcome drinks reception out the front of the venue, and have the door open all evening to let the balmy night in. We had the 7 course taster menu and it was simply OUTSTANDING so many of our guests commented on how delicious it was, particularly the beef steak course! It was so tasty that I even enjoyed the fish dish (not usual for me! . Service on the night was exemplary, the courses were brought out at just the right intervals so you weren't waiting ages but also not being rushed. The chef came out to greet us after the final course, which was a lovely touch and meant we could thank him. Overall, we had really great feedback from our guests, everyone loved it thank you for making our event such a success! We would definitely book again, and I know a few of our guests have already recommended it to their own companies for executive dinners! Would not hesitate to recommend."
