The Milton Hare - Menu

First class Christmas Eve. Very busy but excellent service. Really varied menu with a board of several fish options. Food delivered promptly and with a smile. Thoroughly recommend. Plenty of car parking close by.

Delicious first class Sunday lunch, perfectly cooked Roast Beef, large homemade Yorkshire pudding, the best cauliflower cheese and marinated sweet red a cabbage, carrots, broccoli, roast potatoes- cooked to perfection. Homemade warmed Treacle tart with clotted cream vanilla ice cream …so moreish!

We met with two friends who had eaten here before . The welcome is cheerful and bright . The pub is well laid out and spotlessly clean . Menu has good options and prices reflect the standard of the food . No complaints albeit my wife did have a cheery sone left in what should have been stoned cherries . Booked in advance for a New Years Eve meal for two. On our arrival at 830pm, it was super busy, as expected. This did not affect our service. Staff members were welcoming, efficient and friendly. Our meals were good. My mussel starter was delicious I wish now I’d had it as my main option. In general, just a very pleasant evening on, probably, one of their busiest nights. Thank you

Hm. What's happened at the Hare? A Friday lunchtime should be buzzing with diners and usually is but not one our last visit. The staff were preoccupied and hogged the only lit fire in the place whilst diners sat in chilled rooms. A bit of warmth and for that matter a bit of light on a nasty, cold, wet day would have transformed the place. Service was indifferent, food ok but nothing out of the ordinary. On the whole an unremarkable visit lacking anything special and given the local alternatives we will not rush to return.

The reason for the 3 stars the service was good are drinks were forgotten I admit when we pointed this out they did come out quickly so this was fixed. But the chef must have an ego that won’t allow him to change his roast dinner when my wife who doesn’t like beef but fancied a roast so asked for a sausage instead the Chef said no so she had the beef which wasn’t great quite tough. The rest of the food was good but for me a simple request and an embraced waitress having to come back to the table says it all for me won’t be back not a problem as their are a lot of good restaurants around. I cannot say enough good things about The Hare. Everything was exceptional from the service to the food to the bar staff. Our meals of chicken with gnocchi, pork and leek pie, tomoto and basil soup, and. Caesar salad were first rate and the attention to detail was second to none. It is very clear that the chef and the kitchen staff have a knack for flavor and presentation and it showed with all of our food. Even the bread we had as a nibble and with the soup appeared to be house made. I highly recommend this lovely gastropub if you are looking for a wonderful dining experience in the Cotswolds.

Although I had a lovely evening in the hare this weekend, and the guys behind the bar were wonderful. I couldn’t help but notice the attitude of the waitress that served a lady at the bar. The lady had understandably asked for the music to be turned down, a request I believe to be completely reasonable because I also couldn’t hear my partner over the very loud music . The waitress refused to turn the music down and was surprisingly quite impolite and rude about it. It was very unprofessional and then she muttered something I imagine to be rude under her breath about her customer which is unacceptable

First time here with friends who have been before. Friendly warm greeting from the staff. Menu choice OK but prices certainly reflect the Chipping Norton brigade. Wine prices are absurd so the wife had an Orange Juice £4.25. Pint of IPA was £5.60 which is a bit pricey. Food arrived piping hot and well presented. The food was good but portion control was very apparent. Two of our party were still quite peckish so had a desert. £8 each for tiny portion of Blackberry and Apple Crumble is a blatant rip off. Finally, a 12.5% Service Charge was automatically applied which was naughty as we would have preferred to tip the waitress directly. Would we return ? No, I think there are plenty of others t...
