My family and I stopped in for a drink after a walk. The staff was very friendly and shared many interesting facts about the pub's past. They had a great variety of beers to choose from.

What a delightful oldy worldly hotel/ pub. So dog friendly,welcome doggy bag on arrival,all areas dog friendly. Staff helpful and friendly,good evening food options,live music on our stay (Tues night).

Called in for lunch after walking over Wansfell, limited menu, I ate venison pie and mash (cost £20! , well presented as a whole pie, v tasty and huge portion, served with an excellent of Loweswater Gold. So an excellent if expensive lunch, we will return.

Our first time at the Mortal Man even though we have been visiting the Lake District for years. Great character, super friendly attentive staff and top notch pub food. The slow cooked shin of beef was exceptional and our son loved the sausage and mash and said its his new favourite pub. We will be back!

We went for a drink at the end of a walk between Xmas and New Year and popped in for a drink. Ended up staying for a few. Food was excellent and great pub grub. More importantly the staff were amazing busy but friendly. Made everyone welcome whether locals or visitors. Great beer and gin selection too that’s why we stayed

This was our first time visiting the Lake District with my partner, and we decided to stop at The Mortal Man. We had a fantastic stay in an amazing location. The staff were all friendly and welcoming throughout our stay, and we enjoyed lovely food and drinks in the warm and cozy bar area. Our room was clean and lovely, with a beautiful view from the window. We will definitely be back on our next visit to the Lakes, whether to stay or just for food and drinks. The atmosphere was great.

Excellent place to eat,,had a fantastic meal here on 6th Feb, very good quality for a lounge bar meal, easily comparable to my local 2 x AA star restaurant… game pie was fantastic, the others had n the party enjoyed the pork, cottage pie and blade of beef, to couple that up with some lovely local ales and a good Zinfandel. The service provided by Tommy was first class, we didn’t have to get up from our table … drinks were brought to us as we needed them… All in All in top class place to eat, we will be back.

On Friday, we booked the same time and requested the same table. The pub was busier, but our table was ready and drinks were brought to us promptly. However, we had to wait 15 minutes before receiving menus. The meatballs were not as good as they were on Monday, and the prawns pil pil with chorizo had a small portion. The jerk pork belly was very hot as requested, but two Shepherd's pies were too salty to eat. We were not charged for them and received a 10% discount on the rest of the bill. Despite the mixed experience, we attribute it to being busy with limited staff and plan to return.

This place is magical! The team are simply amazing and give a seemless service every vist. We came today for our Christmas dinner, it was divine from the moment we arrived. We were lucky enough to get the perfect seat in the window too! The spectacular setting, hotel itself and warm welcome from the staff make it extra special . The food was delicious, the thought and time gone in to each dish was easy to see and a delight to taste. A big thank you for making our day the best Christmas can be a difficult time for people, you all had a smile through the busiest day, it was an absolute privilege to dine at your place today, I thank you! Highly recommend a visit whether it’s drinks or dinning....
