"Gorgeous place, amazing food, reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend! We dined as a group of 9. Wait times were very reasonable and the food came together for the most part. I had 3 courses, 2 off the specials menu (starter: garlic butter with warm bread dough balls and main: spring onion buttered chicken with homemade fries and peas) with a brownie and ice cream for dessert, and 3 bottles of coors. Vegetarian options: There were limited options which included starters and mains. For starters I had dough balls with garlic butter. Also available was soup or mushrooms on toast. For mains the option was 3 bean chilli. Dietary restrictions: There were a fair range of gluten free options throughout the entire menu (starters, mains and dessert). Parking: There is a small car park near by but it was full so we had to find street parking that wasn't restricted, a short walk away."

"Skewen is quite the culinary dark horse. As a small town, out of town it has some nice eateries, big and small. No exception to this rule is Rarebit, an enticing cafe I had a takeaway coffee from recently. Some places just have a magical secret ingredient which draws you; the decor, the ambience, the feel, call it what you will. So I re-visited determined to try their breakfast. A couple of days later, and an unforced welcome awaits. The breakfast I have not only sets me up for the day, but well, for whatever I have ahead. I chose the bigger breakfast; consisting of two items of each, toast and a coffee to shake the torpor of grey skies beyond. All is cooked to perfection, and enjoyed in comfortable, cosy surroundings. Sauces come in bottles, not in measly unopenable plastic wraps. Perfick. It's clearly a very popular place, and it's not difficult to see why. Get a place like this in London and you'd pay a fortune for it. Fortunately for me and its clientele, it is not. Delicious. And a stand out moment? Well, it has to be the hash brown, unique, almost rosti like and a lesson to chefs in how to make one. I look forward to my return visit, very much."

"Attended here for dinner last night with my family as my parents had previously been before. The starters were much enjoyed, but after waiting quite some time for our mains we were less than pleased. My mother had the salmon, of which was dry and completely over cooked, her chips were also very undercooked which was the same for my step father. My partner and I ordered pizzas, when they were delivered to the table I noticed mine looked less than appetising in comparison to his. The cheese had gone tough after being out of the oven for a while but then sat under a hot lamp. When a waitress came over to check if everything was okay, we explained that we were less than satisfied. She said that my partners pizza had been dropped on the floor so they had to remake his, and as a result the remaining meals were just sitting until his new meal was ready. We were given a 10% discount off each meal, which equated to an insulting £7 off, that still left us with a £145 bill. It would have been preferred that someone informed us our dinner would be a slightly longer wait, and they had remade all of our meals rather than sending out food of a lower quality. Unfortunately will not be returning."

"So disappointed. I've been coming here for over 2 years and today was the worst experience I've had. Starter of prawn cocktail was ok,...just. Pate was lovely, but only two tiny pieces of ciabatta for 2 big portions of pate. My lamb chops were lovely to be fair, but I would have preferred them with mashed potatoes and gravy, but was informed I would have to pay extra for the gravy???. So settled for chips. My friend had ham and parsley sauce, which actually tasted like butter sauce with a tiny bit of parsley in it, not enough for 2 large pieces of ham, which were lovely to be fair, but the sauce was stone cold. The other friend had mushroom and garlic pasta, a minute amount of mushrooms and could barely taste the garlic. Service was not top notch either, no one came to enquire if our meal was ok, and we were left after our main meal without anyone asking if we wanted a dessert, which we did, but eventually left without. Bill was wrong, good job we're honest. May be a while before I revisit."
