"As I had firstly visited this Micro Bar earlier in the week, and enjoyed the visit. Plenty of different real ales, from different breweries to be had, and a very good pint. I decided to catch the bus up to Wickham again to give it another go. When I arrived the One Eyed Stag, was exceptionally busy, so was everywhere else, in the vicinity. Anyway when I made it to the bar I was asked was I part of the party. To which I replied no. “Sorry Sir, we have a private party here”. I left very disappointed to say the least, after all it had took me best part of an hour, to get there on public transport. So if you are traveling to this Micro pub, be careful as there is a chance you may be refused service. As it happens, just further along the road there are another four pubs that all sell real ale, served with a good standard, so please be wary of the One Eyed Stag, refusing you service."

I have been to this restaurant many times, but this was my first visit since the lockdown restrictions were lifted. As always, I received a warm welcome, there was a fantastic selection of beers, and they had great safety measures in place to keep everyone safe. I highly recommend paying them a visit.

It has been a while since I visited but it still hits the high standards I expected., Sammi , Megan and the lads behind the bar gave a friendly 5 star service. Great selection of Ale in very good condition and an Acoustic duo played on Sunday afternoon. Attracts a very friendly crowd and deserves to be a success,

Possibly the best micro pub in the area including those in Newcastle and Gateshead. Just liked the look of the place, Good atmosphere. Especially liked it had mainstream beers for those who don’t want keg. Fair prices. To top it all loved the branded glasses that even the staff agreed would look good in Lancashire. View menu

What a hidden away gem is this micro pub/bar! It offers a very friendly warm welcome in very comfortable surroundings. There is a great range of real and craft ales available at competitve prices. Good selection of bar snacks allows you to stay a little longer v! Also a good range of gins and wine ! Wish we lived nearer !

I recently went to One Eyed Stag for some casual afternoon drinks on New Year's Eve before the crowds arrived. It had been a while since my last visit, but I quickly remembered how much I love this place. The staff were friendly, the gin and tonic I ordered was perfectly mixed, they had a great variety of beers and ales, and the atmosphere was relaxed. It's now my go-to spot for afternoon drinks and I'll be returning again soon!

"The place seems unprofessionally run. The staff all look like they could do with a bath. No overalls are worn and their clothes are all of the type that many would wear to lounge around the house in . Several have longer hair and beards but don’t wear any kitchen p.p.e. The decor is shabby and I wondered what kind of hygiene rating they would have. Although not busy, the staff seemed to be disorganised, falling over eachother and lacking in training. They seemed to handle the food in an inexperienced, clumsy fashion. The only tool I saw being used was a pizza peel for taking the pizza in and out of the oven. On all other occasions the food was handled. I didn’t notice any hand washing or alcohol gel in evidence. The menu is quite limited and uninspiring. 2 of the 6 pizza choices include chicken which Italians would argue is definite no no! All pizzas are reheated to order which eliminates the possibility of customisation. I don’t believe the restaurant would stand out in many European countries, as pizza in general is of a much higher standard than that in the UK. In spite of the above, The basic pizza is excellent in taste (even though it is all re-heated). And for this reason it is worth a visit. Compared to other uk pizza restaurants which are typically serving absolute garbage, the food is way out in front. If you can tolerate the negatives I’m sure you won’t be disappointed with the pizza. However with a bit of effort, this place could be transformed into something truly amazing."
