"My partner and I stopped at the Douglas for a late lunch on the 15 July 2023 , we picked out eats from the board on the wall ,we both selected starter Lamb Terraine and chutney followed by haddock and chips, the lamb Terraine arrived and we both delved in, many times in other establishments we have enjoyed this dish, how disappointed we were,what arrived with the chutney resembled a square block of peat, it totally had no taste resembling lamb we both have still to establish a taste at all, the most horrible excuse for a lamb Terraine, the chef had us totally confused to what we where eating ,by the time we decided to complain the fish and.chips had arrived, absolutely gorgeous and excellently presented, I just hope this was a blip in the Douglas as this was the first time we ate this starter??? ,We passed this information to the young lady who served us and asked this to be passed onto the chef she said she would , we got no response I tried to contact the complaints on the website unfortunately there is no facility on the site to publicise a review, as we are regular patrons to the Douglas please management tell me this was a blip and won't be repeated."

"We had a gorgeous meal at eighteen69, we ate in the beautiful lounge area with our dog on a sofa and decent sized coffee table which was a lovely relaxed atmosphere. The staff were all friendly and attentive and squeezed us in at the last minute due to some booking confusion. The food was incredible we had all of the vegan options between 2 of us and even ordered a second serving of the vegan burnt ends, which were incredible! This place certainly has the best vegan selection we found on the island, and we loved every dish! Lastly, the bar staff were incredible, from delicious cocktails, friendly chat, and an excellent selection of local beers and spirits. Overall, we're so glad we stumbled on eighteen69 and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone and will certainly be making a return visit next time we visit Arran. Other reviews have criticised the pricing, but for the quality of the food and service we would have paid more. Vegetarian options: Excellent vegan and vegetarian selection, which can be difficult to find with tapas. "Popped in during our stay in Arran. Was probably the best meal we had during our time on the island. We were met with a friendly greeting, and asked about having some food. Advised that the kitchen wasn’t opened just yet but we could wait. After we sat down, they even offered to take our food order straight away despite the kitchen not being open for ~5/10 minutes. The food itself was very classic comfort pub food and had been exactly what we wanted. Generous portion sizes and we were both too full for any desserts. Service was warm and attentive from start to end. If you’re looking for a good feed of classic Scottish pub food then I would highly recommend. Perfect after a day of hiking in the cold!"

"I visited this restaurant last weekend and decided to stop in for a late breakfast. I ordered the vegan breakfast, which was absolutely delicious. It came with a generous portion of mushrooms, potato scones, spinach, cherry tomatoes, and beans, served with toast. I asked if I could substitute the beans for another potato scone, and they were happy to accommodate my request. The only issue was that the toast was served with real butter, but when I asked for an alternative, they promptly brought out a dish of spread from the kitchen. Additionally, they offer oat, soy, and coconut milk for drinks. We enjoyed our meal so much that we returned for lunch the following day. Although the breakfast menu was no longer available, there were still a few options to choose from on the lunch menu."
