"for the manager reference incase they the necessity to follow this up, I visited 06/07/21 around approx. 19:30 and sat on table 11. I stopped walking at midnight for a quick pint. I sat on table 11 and continued to order a pint curious beer. second swallow, the table I sat, was tilted until my pint spills over me and I twisted the knee, on which I was waiting for operation. without risking facemask inside and no service outside, I have another pint with the app to pay so I am not £8.80 for a pint beer. when the second pint was bought, there was an expectation that the waitress would deliver a form of repair. the reality of the situation was that she could not have been less interested by saying the words, oh they lost her pint when I informed her that I was not aware that the table was broken, she would not have been interested less if she had told me that she did not care, at least then there was a form of cognitive assessment of the situation. there was no sign on the table, a thorough check of the table would have shown that it was not suitable for the purpose. that is not my responsibility. in a time when the hospitality sector is on the knees, please write it. but £8.80 to consume a pint, beer dipped legs and a twisted knee, up from a waitress that no less interested, made me wish I had not stopped. the not so local pub opposite the next secondary school offers much better service."

"Having been to the Phoenix several times and I believe, this to be my second average review of the food and service, you 'd think they would have taken heed, but clearly not. Firstly, like most top end restaurants in London, they are reserving the right to charge for no shows £20 per head). But, what they are also doing, which is very unfair, is charging you for cancellations within 24 hours of the booking at £10 per head. If one or more of our friends had fallen ill over night it 's the flu season at the moment), they would have been were forced to go for an expensive average Sunday lunch, whilst spreading their germs to the other diners. It also poses the question, what would some do if you book a table less than 24 hours like we did) and then decide to cancel? The excuse that orders for food have already been placed doesn 't really hold water. The Sunday menu forces you to order a minimum of 2 courses at £34 per head. Some of the top London restaurants are charging less for far more opulent Sunday roasts e.g. the Jugged Hare at the Barbican). The Sunday lunch served was simply very average and not value for money. Finally, why are the desserts here, always consistently so bad? I ordered a baked cheesecake and got cream squirted on a piece of cake. When I asked what I had been served, I was told it was chef 's interpretation of a cheesecake. The menu clearly stated baked cheesecake. Not even in my wildest dreams can you interpret a baked cheesecake as a piece of cake with creamed squirted on it! This was promptly returned and replaced with a vile chocolate tart, with pastry so hard I couldn 't cut into it without the fear of smashing the plate it was served on. The chocolate was over salted and the chantilly cream served with it unsweetened. Save your money, go elsewhere."

"I am so disappointed with this restaurant. I had been here previously (prior to Covid once before in a group of about 10 of us and thought the restaurant had done a brilliant job. I thought I would introduce my partner to it last night to have a nice curry out. I was VERY wrong. Saga Phase 1.....Table was booked for 8.30pm. We were left waiting to order for quite a while. Our starters came out just before 9.30pm! We then proceeded to wait for the main meals. These eventually came out just before 10pm! In between this, our drinks were empty (where we had been negelcted for so long . Eventually we managed to order another orange juice and lemonade and another Stella. By the time we had been given our main meals (of which my partner 's chips were cold and had been given a dirty plate we were unable to eat the food due to it being so late. The owner did come over and apologised for the huge delay and said it was not acceptable. He stated he would look after us . So swiftly after not being able to eat the food after having waited 1 hour 30 mins for it, we asked for the bill. We were told by the female manger that she had heard ws had been neglected (her words and that she would give us a nice discount. Saga Phase 2.....we received 2 seperate bills, one for alcoholic drinks and the other for food. The food bill totalled around £70 and this was with the nice discount of £7.81 (10% . The drinks bill was around £14 and detailed 3 Stellas and 1 vodka!!! My partner immediately stated that he really hoped they hadn 't put Vodka in my drink due to the fact that I was driving!! The female manager admitted that it may have been a previous table 's bill and stated that it was a straight vodka listed not an orange and vodka. We are not convinced as orange and lemonade were on the food bill and tbe waiter had previously got my drink wrong and brought out wrong drinks so this makes me wonder what else he got wrong!. The female manager did correct the drinks bills to reflect 2 alcoholic drinks of 2 Stellas but when we challenged her about the food bill, her manner changed. We stated that we were not happy with £7.81 off the bill. She stated that she cant go giving out discounts to all thier customers. I teplied that she wouldnt have to if the service was up to standard etc. My partner asked for the owner (the earlier guy who had said he would look after us . He was nowhere to be seen and the female manager said that she had been sent out to deal with us and that he would not be coming over. I also stated that we were not the only table who were unhappy with thier service as I had asked another table slightly earlier if they thought the service was slow. They immediately stated Yes, very! When I said this to the manager, she said that they were regulars, basically didnt believe me and that she would check everything with Mr (and proceeded to say his name, no respect for data protection and that she was disregarding my comment. We were then made to pay the bills, saying that she wasnt going to do anymore for us and shrugged her shoulders. We felt extremely uncomfortable, quickly paid an extortionate bill for the two meals, two starters, a rice, a bread, poppadoms and 4 drinks (of which half of it we couldnt eat due to it being so late at night , and left. We will NEVER be going back and advise anyone thing of giving this restaurant a go, I really wouldn 't bother. The food was ok but not worth thier prices, the service was extremely slow and the customer service was non-existent."

"Pre ordered for 6pm collection, arrived at 5.50pm to find it sat in bags already bagged up on a table, not being kept warm! Voiced my disapproval and was given a story about avoiding the rush. Paid the £150 it came to for 6 people, which is not an insignificant amount of money! When I got home, the food was lukewarm at best, and really rather dry! One main meal of chicken tikka masala missing so phoned the restaurant, was told to go back and collect it. I said I’ve just spent £150 on your food, surely you can send one out to me asap, they begrudgingly agreed, when I asked how long, they said 30MINS!! I told them that’s ridiculous and I’ll come back and collect it but I’m not happy! When I arrived back at the restaurant, meanwhile the rest of my guests are either eating without two of us or everyone’s food is getting colder, the replacement wasn’t even ready and I spent more time waiting. I was told to take I seat and wait, to which I strongly objected and said I wanted my food. The curry was given to me with pilau rice and two lagers as a gesture, no apology etc When I got back home and got into the food it was probably the worst curry we have ever had! Two Bangladeshi naan’s didn’t have a scrap of chilli between them, a tikka rice had next to no tikka in it, a vegetable curry had one lump of potato in sauce and that was the veg curry, the tikka masala that I returned for wasn’t even correct, it was just plain chicken in a red sauce, the onion bhajis were dry and over cooked and a mixed starter literally looked like something my dog would bring up! I wouldn’t use this restaurant again if it was free and I have since found out that when dining in, a free drink is sometimes offered in return for a good review. Think twice before using!"
