"The food took a long time to be served (an hour after our bread mezze plates were cleared), but it was delicious once it arrived. Unfortunately, one plain hamburger came out with cheese on it, so it had to be sent back. The portions of the burger and chips were generous, while the risotto portions were somewhat small. It's important to note that there is an "optional" 12.5% service charge automatically included on the bill. However, the bill was properly itemized with no unexpected charges. In conclusion, the pub is nice but the service could be improved to attract more local customers."

What a wonderful place to go for a celebration. Friendly staff and volunteers. A comfortable atmosphere. Delicious food and great drinks. Interesting and tempting local pottery and art.

Absolutely amazing restaurant! I had no idea that a restaurant serving such incredible food could be hidden out in a little village somewhere. Ed, Paris and Renny were amazing hosts and the food was absolutely stunning! Price per person: £10–20 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

What could be more welcoming on a cold, wet miserable November day than 3 log burning stoves easily heating a quaint, old village pub. Friendly staff, reasonably priced menu with good selection of ales, spirits and wines especially a great Pinot Noir. Will go back again. Price per person: £20–30 Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Lovely pub with really good food. We was very happy with the selection on the lunch menu and it was only £20 a head for the starter and main. Pints are the same price as all pubs at the moment and the place itself is fantastic and well definitely be going back. The mrs had a expresso martini which looked really good as well. very happy overall well done guys. Price per person: £20–30 View menu

WOW! Under new management now and what a transformation! We've eaten here quite a few times now and every time we're blown away at how good the food is. And always served so competently by the team with such a friendly, warm and welcoming atmosphere. Honestly cannot fault this place. Great to see it so busy again, there's a real buzz of positivity during service. Plus- great quiz nights! Definitely book in advance.. and in confidence!

We had our annual Christmas lunch here yesterday, and wouldn't hesitate to go back. The pub is lovely, with a great atmosphere, even on a wet Sunday afternoon. 11 of us had pre-ordered three courses, and the food was amazing, very tasty and piping hot. We ordered a mixture of everything on the Christmas lunch menu, and there were mmmm's all round ! My salmon was lovely. Everyone we came across was very friendly and welcoming, and nothing was too much trouble. Very reasonably priced, they should probably charge more.

"Having been to the Phoenix several times and I believe, this to be my second average review of the food and service, you 'd think they would have taken heed, but clearly not. Firstly, like most top end restaurants in London, they are reserving the right to charge for no shows £20 per head). But, what they are also doing, which is very unfair, is charging you for cancellations within 24 hours of the booking at £10 per head. If one or more of our friends had fallen ill over night it 's the flu season at the moment), they would have been were forced to go for an expensive average Sunday lunch, whilst spreading their germs to the other diners. It also poses the question, what would some do if you book a table less than 24 hours like we did) and then decide to cancel? The excuse that orders for food have already been placed doesn 't really hold water. The Sunday menu forces you to order a minimum of 2 courses at £34 per head. Some of the top London restaurants are charging less for far more opulent Sunday roasts e.g. the Jugged Hare at the Barbican). The Sunday lunch served was simply very average and not value for money. Finally, why are the desserts here, always consistently so bad? I ordered a baked cheesecake and got cream squirted on a piece of cake. When I asked what I had been served, I was told it was chef 's interpretation of a cheesecake. The menu clearly stated baked cheesecake. Not even in my wildest dreams can you interpret a baked cheesecake as a piece of cake with creamed squirted on it! This was promptly returned and replaced with a vile chocolate tart, with pastry so hard I couldn 't cut into it without the fear of smashing the plate it was served on. The chocolate was over salted and the chantilly cream served with it unsweetened. Save your money, go elsewhere."
