"Super busy when we arrived after a walk although the car park looked empty. Don't need to book it's just a case of turn up and wait for a table and it wasn't long until we were all sat down, coffee tea and beer served at the bar with some delicious flapjacks and rocky road in fabulous slab sized pieces. Happy smiling welcome from the bar staff as we arrived. Didn't eat today but the food coming out looked fantastic, prices from around £13 per main, we would have stayed for food if we had more time and I will be returning shortly with the family to eat. The tables are well laid out and the atmosphere was friendly and welcoming. The ladies toilets are a little snug but very well kept and managed a successful waterproof trousers removal dance!"

One of the most chilled places I have been to. Amazing views from the beer garden. Friendly welcoming staff and a wonderful Sunday lunch. Portion was more than ample, plenty of roast beef huge Yorkshire pudding and traditional roast potatoes and veg. Highly recommend.

The restaurant was pleasant, but I felt uncomfortable and unwelcome when, on a slow day, I had only one drink and overheard the bartender comment that it took me half an hour to finish half a pint. With no other customers present, I didn't feel respected as a customer. I decided to go to a better pub up the street. Service: 2 Location: 5 Ambiance: Quiet.

The restaurant was clearly very busy on the sunny day we visited, with limited table space and inevitable lines at the bar. However, this pub is perfectly located for starting or ending a walk, offering delicious food and quality beer. Despite the crowds, the staff were friendly and efficient. It's always our top choice for a drink when in Edale. Rooms: 5.

The Rambler is such a lovely traditional pub. After a long day walking round the dark peak, there is nowhere better to go for a drink and a bite to eat. The staff are super friendly and there is a great selection of food and drink. Everything is very reasonably priced and good quality. If you're ever in Edale it's definitely worth dropping in for refreshments. View menu

had a great meal and a couple beer after a 35k walk in quite warm weather. very busy and a snake out of the door, but that has not distracted much from the experience. interesting menu and good quality. load from various camps on hahn, a few ales on handpull, which were well held. only something missing was ipa or pale ale, not one available in the face of the many taps.

After a walk around Mam Tor, we decided to stop at this restaurant and it was fantastic. The atmosphere was beautiful, warm, and cozy, and they were dog friendly. There was a large parking space in front of the location. The staff was very friendly, the food was delicious, and the prices were reasonable for the quality. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area.

As a countryside pub and gathering spot for hikers, this place is hard to beat. They offer a wide selection of craft beers and traditional ales. The pub menu is extensive with something for everyone, and the service is top-notch. In the winter, cozy up by the roaring fire, and in the summer, relax in the spacious beer garden and soak up the sun. It's the perfect spot to unwind after a day of exploring the outdoors. Out of the 2 pubs in the village this has always been our favourite. Perfectly located for any stay in Edale, lovely choice of Ales and beers, standard pub grub at a reasonable price. Efficient and friendly staff. Feel like your in a different world when your in the beer garden on a warm summers evening, stunning scenery. Something to note, gets extremely busy around early evening for food, expect a sizeable wait if dining. Service: 5

This restaurant is a lovely and cozy spot to relax, especially after a long walk when you're starving. There is plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors. They offer their own parking and even have a few rooms if you need to stay overnight. The beer selection is great and they have a traditional English menu, featuring dishes like Roast dinner and fish and chips. We tried the burgers and the mash and they were delicious! Highly recommended.

"We came here after a walk in peaks, however after sitting down we had to move as another group came over and their dog lunged and was aggressive to our dog who had been sat there. We moved to another table which was on a slant, as it was the only one available. After getting our drinks and ordering food we sat back down. However within moments, both of our soft drinks had toppled over coating one of us completely. A waitress saw this, however did not offer any assistance (providing a cloth or towels) but she did say she would replace our drinks. However the bar man, Steve, came to us and told us he would not replace our drinks. He told us that they were not responsible for our drinks and we pointed out that we were sat at their table which they had placed on the slant, with no coasters or anything to prevent them falling. Whilst I can somewhat understand, Steve was incredibly hostile and rude. Offered no apology and was unflinching on his position. In the end we decided to leave, not because they would not replace our drinks, but because of the way we were spoken to. I asked if Steve was the owner or manager and was advised he was not, so I'm not sure where he got the gall to be so rude to customers. The poor waitresses clearly looked uncomfortable. If Steve had apologised said that this had happened before but unfortunately he wasn't able to replace we would have somewhat understood. However Steve was rude, extremely hostile and aggressive as if we had walked in and demanded free drinks. We had our food refunded and left. If the owners or management care about customer service I would suggest considering whether Steve is the type of person who should be customer facing. We had spent £40 on food that they had to refund, which feels like it's counter productive considering to replace two post mix drinks would cost the venue at most 50p."

"Losehill house certainly not anywhere close to luxury avoid at all costs. What a disappointment Losehill House Hotel is, the website and certain booking sites would have you believe this is a luxury hotel, the price tag would certainly dictate it is. However, it is anything but, we had a thoroughly miserable time at this Hotel. Luxury has a different meaning for everyone, of course. However when it comes to hotels here 's what the word usually means to most: beautiful attention to detail, excellent customer service, room service, a fridge in the room and a mini bar, a concierge, soundproofing, a feeling of being somewhere special... that 's not what losehill house offers... When I booked a room intially I was told dogs were not allowed in that type of room and was downgraded to a smaller room as I have one small well behaved pug. The downgrade in and of itself did not concern me, this after all sells itself as a luxury hotel... it was only upon arrival that it became clear that what the owners of this establishment are claiming on their website is, in my honestly held opinion, absolutely misleading. Please take time to review the attached pictures comparing the website 's advertised luxury and the reality....quite the contrast. It was like we 'd arrived at the wrong hotel. This place is a joke. The room: the room was similar to a uni student 's studio, scratched cheap laminate flooring, a dirty divan bed base, odd mismatched fixings, big standard linens, no cushions or blankets or attention to detail. It was overlooking a car park at ground floor level with no way to gain privacy apart from to have the curtains shut at all times if you didn 't want to have the drivers and neighbours constantly looking into the windows. There was no soundproofing, all we could hear were footsteps upstairs and next door talking. There is cheap garden furniture scattered outside the room on a grubby patio and one of those same tables outside has been dragged into the room to act as a tea station. There was a worn brown blanket on a horrid cheap sofa which was threadbare in places and really unappealing. There is some furniture shoved against the walls but it all feels very cheap. The bathroom is the same you would find in any cheap b and b in any town, not beautifully appointed . Depressing is the word we used most often to describe it. So here 's my problem with this, I 'm happy to stay somewhere like this if I know what to expect but this is what the owners of the hotel say about the rooms on their website: Losehill House Hotel has 22 beautifully appointed 4 star en suite bedrooms and suites.... . Most of our rooms give you extensive views over the Peak District National Park... this is simply untrue in my view. I am sure the hotel management will defend themselves by saying they have nicer rooms but it sells itself on luxury and if it isn 't all luxury then NONE of it is....that 's how it works. The hotel: the hotel itself is shabby and tired, it is grubby in lots of places (this morning flies all over the window sill as we are breakfast . The view is indeed charming but paying a total of approximately 500 for two nights in the depressing room is outrageous and a view cannot make up for that, especially when your view is of a car park. The spa: hmmmmm it 's okay, tiny and you have to book a one hour slot so we assumed we would have relative privacy and time to use the facility, unfortunately we shared with 12 other people, there were no free chairs and no room in either the jacuzzi or the sauna. Gave up after 30 minutes as it was as depressing as the room. Conclusion: When I complained about the room and put our disappointment to the staff this morning, I was met with oh okay, do you want to pay your bill? there was no shock, no apology, no concern. It seems this is not a surprise to the staff here that people feel misled by the website... I really would urge you to look elsewhere if what you 're looking for is luxury, if you 're looking for overpriced disappointment head here! Food drinks: The restaurant and the food: breakfast is passable as long as you stay away from the cooked one, everything on my plate was either cooked to ashes or overcooked (split scrambled eggs! The evening meal was really just okay, nothing more. The staff are sweet enough but came to me yesterday to explain another couple had taken our requested table...and looked at me expectantly as if I was supposed to solve their ineptitude. So we sat at the other couple 's table..."
