"I came in with my mum to have some food a bar lady greeted us. It was only us in the building. The bar lady didn’t smile nor talk much we ordered the lamb roast and had a coke which was just the syrup of the coke no soda at all. Very small car park we sat down by the window in the bar nothing was cleaned in over a yr what looked liked my mum went toilet and said they were not the cleanest the could of been. All the workers there looked tired of being there. The bar lady was playing slots on the computer and not paying any attention at all. I went to see what the restaurant looked like and it was dim no lights only lamps that looked filthy. Then I I heard a ding from the kitchen that sounded like it came from a microwave. The lady brought are food over with holding clothes however the plates were not hot at all it was to make look that they were hot. Everything on the plate was microwaved and the carrots were really salts and was lifeless nothing was fresh. While she was playing slots she hadn’t relished we have been finished for a while after 7 mins later she took the plates she never asked if we enjoyed are meal which we both didn’t. I asked for the dessert menu and she brought a chalk board over it was hard to read since they wrote it in kids chalk. I had the brownie and ice cream. The brownie didn’t taste like a homemade brownie it taste like they bought it from a company. We left and a man said thank u in a sluggish way. Until I realise that they flipped the sign over for closed when it says in there website 12-12 which is obviously false. The place look like it have retired with all the workers there. Very horrible and disappointing will not be coming again. I do not recommend!"

I was a bit apprehensive having read the negative reviews but I can only assume that they went to a completely different place than we did. The food was great and well priced, all the staff were friendly and helpful and we enjoyed our visit. Wouldn't hesitate to eat there again.

I was staying at the nearby Brambles Bed Breakfast and wanted a quick drink before checking in. After three rounds, we were on our way. This pub had a real community atmosphere, with friendly locals, a welcoming landlady, and refreshing cold beer. It was a fantastic stop-off. Thank you!

Visiting a friend who is looking to move into the area and popped in to try the local free house. Despite being managed by relief staff we were welcomed and enjoyed one of the best value Sunday roasts we’ve had for a long time. It’s pub food but at pub prices, it exceeded our expectations. Well done

I came ere a few years ago with a group booking and have never had the chance to come back. The food was delicious. We had a separate room for the group, and it was lovely. The food was brought out quickly and was scrummy. We had a few fussy eaters in the group, but they hardly left anything!Very nice and very relaxed.

Best possible value for a short Sunday lunch stop on a journey west. Lovely meal choice of Pork or Beef plus really delicious choice of veg. All beautifully cooked not overcooked Just right) for £8.80 No frills looking local pub with good food. It says outside NoDogs but they let us sit in the lean too at the front with our dog in the glorious winter sunshine.

This is a quaint rural pub with lots of character. A warm and friendly greeting on arrival, then a dilemma, what to order! Spoilt for choice with local specialities. I ordered Devonshire chicken, served with bacon, mushrooms, apples and cheese in a cider apple sauce, delicious. I love the vegetable choices and would recommend the braised red cabbage, the best I have tasted. High quality ingredients, beautifully cooked and presented well. Just passing through but wish this was my local.

Every time I go for a meal at the Redwoods, I am always very happy. The food is always tip top, with plenty of home made selections on offer. None of that horrible frozen veg, and really great portions. My favourite is the duck. Extremely good value, lovely surroundings and very friendly and efficient staff. Our latest visit was in the evening, a celebration with 8 ladies. We were all very impressed with our different meal choices. In process of making another booking with this great find.

Visited with a friend for lunch at 1 p.m. and, apart from us, the restaurant and bar were completely empty. We now know why! I ordered roast lamb which came microwaved, grey and unappetising and my friend ordered haddock florentine which was over cooked, dry and hard. The vegetables were a microwaved soggy mess that tasted of nothing. On collection the nearly full plates were taken with no query other than “have you finished”. On the plus side the building was nice and warm on a cold, wet day. We paid but will not return

We recently stayed at Brambles Guest House nearby and decided to dine at the only restaurant within walking distance. The restaurant wasn't very crowded, but the bar seemed popular with locals. The menu was diverse, with a variety of specials that were different from our previous visit. We both ordered the roast duck, which was a generous portion but slightly overcooked. While we didn't enjoy it as much as our previous meal, other diners seemed to be enjoying their meals. The wine list was small but affordable, and we felt better after sharing a bottle. Desserts were tasty.
