"Technically the Royal Standard is at Wooburn Common not High Wycombe. I visited with my Mum yesterday evening and the place was packed with people eating and drinking. A very good sign, especially on a week night. We had calamari chips and salad and sausage egg and chips, all really nice and very good value for money. The two guys serving behind the bar and taking orders were very friendly and hospitable and welcoming and we’d definitely visit again when I’m in the area. It was especially nice for my 91 year old Mum as her Dad used to visit the pub regularly so it brought back fond memories for her. It’s a good old fashioned pub not pretending to be something it’s not and the fact that it was packed on a Thursday tea time speaks for itself."

Super pub. The food/atmosphere is excellent and staff can not be more helpful. They look after my wife’s parents very well.

This fabulous village pub with its 10 Real Ales,6 Ciders (some local) excellent food and convivial atmosphere. Is back to its brilliant best after all the Covid nonsense.

The food was amazing. My husband had the Barnsley chops and I had the steak and Ale pie.The food was so delicious. We then decided to have the bread and butter pudding, the best I had ever tasted. The atmosphere was so friendly. The lady serving was really lovely. Will be back again View menu

The menu here consists of phenomenal quantities of overpriced stodge. Had a horrible lunch of burger and chips . Chips were clearly frozen and were a pile of bits. Burger was ridiculously thick and unpleasant. Didn’t eat the bun. Felt awful almost as soon as I put down my cutlery and was then ill with food poisoning for next three days . Service was very poor even though pub wasn’t busy. Never again. .

Excellent pub food, well cooked. Extensive menu, with good, friendly service and lovely old premises. I left my jacket mistakenly in the pub, and contacted them a few days later, after we had returned from our holiday. Spoke to a very helpful member of staff, who confirmed I had left it, and promised to send it, refusing my plea to pay. Jacket now received in perfect condition! What brilliant service, seldom seen today!

This was the first time we had visited this establishment despite having past it en route to other destinations, We were delighted by the traditional feel and decor and were greeted in a warm and friendly manner by the young man behind the bar, We had booked a meal and he sorted us out quickly with drinks ,menus and our table. The menu was good traditional pub grub. There was a good choice with an additional specials board. Plenty of choice, We enjoyed our food and thought prices were reasonable. We will certainly return. A cosy old fashioned interior with many separate seating areas indoors and out. Friendly service and a traditional range of food such as burgers, chicken strips, fish halloumi and chips, baguettes etc. A big plus is that they will try to cater for smaller appetites by reducing the portion size e.g. fewer fishcakes. Great for people who don't want to feel daunted by a plateful of food they don't want. I didn't have the mash with my steak and ale pie so I had room for the bread and butter pudding! NB there is a different Royal Standard in Beaconsfield. They are not linked.

We visited the Royal Standard last week following my Aunts funeral, the pub was a long time family favourite years ago when I was growing up, it hasn’t really changed much since then and is still a very traditional olde world pub. The menu is varied and prices are very good, my Mum had sausages, eggs, chips and salad , I had chicken strips, chips and salad, my cousin had fish and chips and her husband had chilli and all of the meals were really nice with big portions, Mums 3 sausages were of very good quality and drinks were also reasonably priced. We would definitely return to the pub for food when next in the area.
