"We stopped by on the off chance for lunch as I heard the food was good and I wanted a peak inside as I hadn’t been there for over 40 years! It is a lovely country pub with lots of parking in a lovely part of Somerset. The landlord was very amiable and so were the customers there; even though we were ‘strangers in town’ we felt most welcome. The food was excellent (fish pie and steak ale pie with side dishes and salad). Service was friendly and prompt. We didn’t try any of the beer on offer because of driving unfortunately. We ate outside but the dinning room looks good. Would not hesitate to recommend it for a meal or a few pints."

Stopped off en route to RSPB reserve. We were the only 2 customers but were made welcome and had vegetarian lasagne and a great plate of ham, egg and chips. Lovely home cooked food.

Currently under new management wth a freshly renovated interior and a new separate cafe/ coffee area. The kitchen is being renewed and all should be ready for food (pub grub) by the middle of August 2024. Sexeys Arms is now open for drinks in the bar.

We can’t believe how lucky we were to visit the Sexeys this evening. The food was so delicious and the fish pie was the best I have ever eaten!!! It was so quiet inside so hopefully people will start supporting this lovely pub. Really attentive staff and felt really homely and welcoming inside.

The place has reopened. Nice refurb but we had to endure a woman with a large Labrador sitting in the window with another 2 chaps talking loudly about how there too many Black People (she used the word and the term Ethnics). We left quickly, such a shame, it seems that they have made a real effort refurbishing, and done a great job.

We enjoyed Sunday lunch at the Sexeys Arms and can not fault the service, food, beer or atmosphere at all. We had a Sunday roast and it was full of vegetables, lots of beef and some really nice roast potatoes. We hadn’t been here for some time but we fully intend to return soon. In addition to all the afore mentioned the price was very reasonable.

I went for a meal with 8 friends which we had booked previously. The table was laid out and everything was ready for us. A few of us had the fish pie, which was beautifully flavoured, piping hot and had loads of vegetables with it, all cooked well. We even ventured into sweets and I had a lovely sticky toffee pudding and ice cream. Attentive service and good value for money.

We went to Sexeys Arms for lunch with friends last week. Two of us had the luxury fish pie and two had the lamb chops, and we all really enjoyed our choice, it was all homemade and very tasty. Desserts were not homemade but were fine, all was good value for money. It was a shame that we were the only people there, so no atmosphere, and, although everything appeared quite clean, our table felt quite sticky.

We drove around looking for a place to eat whilst staying at Cheddar Woods and came across this little pub tucked away. They had finished doing Sunday roasts and said they were closing but could prepare us a meal as we were desperate. We waited for approximately 30 mins and were thrilled when the food arrived. It was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious! The staff were so friendly and accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. We will definitely be returning again.

"Been wanting to try this ‘alternative’ pub for a while. Large car park with plenty of space, no steps or slopes into the bar. Access for buggies, wheelchairs etc should be okay, my mother walks with the aid of a frame and has no issues. Inside the decor is certainly alternative but in a great way, loved it! Plenty to look at, keep you entertained and talk about as you wait for your food or just pass the time. Staff were friendly and welcoming, there was just one guy running the bar, taking food orders and bringing food out; I thought he needed a helper or coworker really. There is a decent bar area with seating or there is more ‘restaurant’ style seating further back beyond the bar. We chose to sit in the bar area seating which is a mixture of booth and chairs. Dogs are allowed in which is great, there is free Wi-Fi which is good as my mobile signal was very poor. The menu is standard pub food, quite a bit of choice and plenty of options for gluten free. I chose to have the fillet steak cooked medium, I had a starter of garlic bread but chose for it all to come out together. Mother had beef brisket loaded fries, the portion was massive so I had to help her finish it. The steak was perfectly cooked, I chose to have the peppercorn sauce; this was a bit watery and bland. The steak comes with chunky chips, peas, mushrooms, tomatoes and onion rings. For dessert I had the nutty apple crumble with ice cream, it was okay. Overall this is a great venue with acceptable food, friendly staff and awesome decor that will keep you talking and looking all night. Based on this experience I would visit again."
