"A really poor experience for a pub which is local to me. I have only ever been here once and it’s safe to safe I won’t frequent again. I arrived before my friend, and was greeted by a friend member of staff who welcomed me in. My friends then arrived 10 minutes later, to which they were given a hostile reception, and what only can be described as an interrogation into a simple empty pub, bar two tables, including the one I was sitting on. When my friends did join, we were very aware the table we were on was booked from 6.30. We then moved to another, which was booked from 7.30, as we were asked to leave which was totally reasonable as we knew this before sitting down. When we left; an extremely abrupt and rude bar woman told us ‘there’s room for you outside’ when all tables had a 6.30 booking but very few were filled, it was 7.35. When I further enquired about the table, she insisted people were on their way. She then said to us ‘I don’t know what you want me to do, I’ve offered you outside, don’t be so rude; what more do you want’ I then went outside as clearly we were not welcome in freezing November, and swiftly decided to leave. Such a shame to have such a poor experience, please do not come to this pub, as clearly they fo not want to build a customer report nor do they have any customer manner. There are many great pubs around, please head to them and avoid this place at all costs!!!"

I dropped by on my way to visit Notting Hill and Portobello Road Market on a Sunday. It was my first time trying a Sunday Roast as an American. The staff was excellent and the food was delicious.

We came here last summer (2022), loved it and made it our first stop when we returned to Notting Hill this summer (2023). The food, drinks and service were just as good. The fish and chips are the best I've ever had. The back patio area is both open and cozy. The servers were friendly and attentive something you don't always get in London pubs. Can't wait to return next summer.

What a great find on our way to sightseeing in Notting Hill we stopped at The Sun in Splendor. Staff were great and food excellent as well as drink. We had fish and chips (very good) and they were having our favorite champagne as a special on Friday when in London so we ate and came back after sightseeing Portobello Road and sat in the garden and drank a bottle of Veuve Clicquot

This restaurant is best described as average. There is nothing negative about the pub, but there is also nothing outstanding about it either (except for the attractive facade from the outside). The food was okay, not great but not something I would want to splurge on either. The staff was friendly enough, but lacked enthusiasm and didn't engage in conversation. It's a decent spot for grabbing a few drinks, especially if you're sitting outside, but I wouldn't recommend it for a dinner outing.

This experience was absolutely fantastic! We decided to try a few different small plates to share, and each one was incredibly delicious. The waiter was very friendly, and when we expressed interest in sitting outside in the courtyard, he kindly warned us about the hot 30-degree London weather (we were two tired, jet-lagged Kiwis!), so we chose to sit inside instead. The service was prompt, the food was amazing, the atmosphere was lovely, and the restaurant was located in a charming part of town.

I had walked past this pub several times and it looked welcoming from the outside, and when the opportunity afforded I took a friend there. It was about 1o.30 and it was almost empty. We bought our drinks at the bar and went outside to smoke a cigarette but a member of the staff made it v clear he did not want us there. We are respectable people, two teachers, but he insisted we could not leave our drinks inside. We managed to work around the situation but he eventually closed the whole pub 30 minutes early (given its official closing time time of 11pm) locking the doors on us. We were polite and friendly throughout, but I can only assume he objected to us smoking or else to us just being ha...

Very average roast in a nice pub with a cute beer garden. Atmosphere was nice and the service was quite good but they were out of cauliflower cheese which for me is a must. The chicken was cooked through but no browning on the skin which is unappealing and means a lack of that distinctive crispy skin flavour. Vegetables on the menu quoted leeks and peas but there was 1 or 2 of each respectfully and you only get three potatoes. Also meant to get stuffing and pigs in blanket but you get half a stuffing ball and a tiny sausage which also look like they haven't been browned at all. All very pale for some reason. Sticky toffee pudding is meant to be served with creme anglaise/custard but came wit...
