"Three of us met here in January for a mid week lunchtime catch up this was a new venue to all of us and one picked for the mid point location. The car park was limited but we had no problem parking and the pub was fairly quiet, several customers but no sense of crowding. We were made to feel very welcome and had a good look at the menu, which was as we'd expect for pub food. We really only wanted a main course and there was a really helpful response to a request to switch chips carbs for vegetables. My friends both had pies, the steak and ale was a substantial square pie, almost architectural. The mediterranean spiced chicken breast was cooked to perfection moist and tender and the vegetables, though simple, were superb tenderstem broccoli with a bit of crunch, grilled courgettes, tasty swede carrot mash and light and creamy mashed potatoes good food cooked really well. We spent quite a while catching up on eachother's news and felt under no pressure to hurry up. The pub is really pleasant, charming and feels quite airy. Loos very nice, clean and everything worked (warm water for hand washing and no broken loo seats). We left wondering when we could come back for another reunion and maybe manage another course ...."

Brilliant Sunday carvery, tasty food and friendly attentive staff! The atmosphere is very relaxed and has a very local country pub feel, would recommend and definitely visit again.

Amazing home cooked sunday carvery, easily the best Roast I have had anywhere locally. The warm chocolate brownie and icecream was the best I have ever tasted and it's my go to pudding! Staff are really friendly and make you feel really welcome which can be unusual in a village pub! Would highly recommend and will definitely be back.

Charming and inviting pub with a unique atmosphere. We visited after a day out and received a warm welcome. We tried the goat curry and prawn linguine, both of which were delicious, followed by a delightful apple crumble. The owners were extremely kind and dedicated to providing top-notch personal service. We definitely plan on returning in the future.

Surprisingly good! One gentleman doing everything! With a friendly helpful disposition- I had the steak kidney pudding, mash, peas extra gravy. Piping hot, tasty, big portion (I ate it all!! and I thought it was great! Difficult to find info online in advance. Limited menu in the current circumstances which us understandable. I would recommend will return.

The staff at this restaurant were kind and friendly, and the location was fantastic. The prices were really reasonable and there was a wide selection of drinks. I plan on trying the food next time I visit the area. I enjoyed sitting outside in the sunshine, it was a charming atmosphere. I will definitely be returning. My only suggestion is to improve the maintenance of the outdoor seating area and possibly replace a few benches. Other than that, it was a nice place.

This was our first visit to this lovely little pub which has new owners who are working very hard to make it an excellent place to visit. Much care has been taken over the outdoor space which is now fenced in so suitable for children. The tables are being painted and there was a potted plant on each one. The toilets (I only visited the ladies : were top class and the little fairy lights in the bar gave it a cosy feel. We received a very friendly welcome and would certainly visit again when we are in the area.

Rang up in the morning and booked lunch for late afternoon carvery. This is our second visit here as we live locally, first time was not good either but decided to give it the benefit of doubt!Shocking poor service and quality of food. After accepting our booking, waited such a long time as restocking carvery actually ordered something to nibble on and was served several pieces of garlic bread and mayo??. Beef really tough and no carrots as finish, as worked in the food industry (new product development for ready meals to supermarkets) it’s just so bad!! Cold and dull interior with a wood burner which was not lit on a Sunday afternoon in January?? Why?? Will never return!!

We first came to this pub on Monday and had such a lovely lunch with 2 friends after a good walk to Markyate and back, we booked the Sunday carvery for part of our family. The choice of meat, beef, ham and turkey, was all cooked to perfection and the plates were almost too small to take the lovely vegetables, yorkshire puddings, stuffing, gravy and sauces. It was all hot and served by friendly staff. The children's fish fingers and chips portions were an appropriate size and disappeared very quickly. The puddings for those who had room, were very pleasant and the coffee was piping hot. It was a pity the coffee machine was broken but the filter and hot milk was a satisfactory alternative. We...

I traveled from Kettering to Flamstead and Markyate to play the organ at two churches, leaving at 7:15 in the morning. I had pre-booked a meal at this pub through Facebook, and by 12:40 I was ready for Sunday lunch. The meal arrived quickly, as I had arrived early before the rush, and it was deliciously hot. The selection of vegetables was surprisingly large and very much welcomed, with a small portion of swede, carrot, cauliflower with cheese, cabbage, parsnip, and other vegetables that I can't quite remember. The meal also included three roast potatoes, a Yorkshire pudding, stuffing, and two slices of gammon with gravy. I returned a clean plate after finishing my meal. The apple crumble th...

"Yammin-Yummy says. ... 5 stars ... also a rarely awarded- 'beezybonus'. . . now, where do I begin to begin with such an amazingly appealing selection of freshly prepared foods that one would naturally expect that, already cooked, sitting, waiting for the next hungry expected customers. this can sometimes cook up to 10-20-50mins before they are placed in front of them. not here. freshly cooked. now this beautiful example of a traditional 'fish chip love affair, established over generations of Friday nights, was beautifully designed to tell their mouth, tonge taste panties, please attach their belts, and then it is about them an incredible arbor ride. ... one who seems to go up just as once they decided what's going in their mouth first (at least the crispy tail end) begins their incredible journey up; as their eyebrows increase during thinking, omg that 's sooo different good, light, crispy teig as I've never tasted in my 37 years since the beginning in the food industry. And then I made the mistake of dipping my squid in the homemade tartaric acid sauce. that is when the 1st massive fear happened, as I thought, oh my days; the better then mean, re-entry, deeper, actually cure my wrist action, to ensure maximum absorption of this sweet/creamy/tart/caper filled taste, as I reached for a chip to accompany, strengthen the excellent experience I thought stupid would be a 'standard thing'. Now I took care of you like this, but I have seen on my chips a few each mouthful was an experience, depending on how I stacked the fork, hahahaha. the fish was so fresh that I was looking on my teller sand. ... to dedicate a joy to each chip. ... the muddy heaps, normally warmed, not microshaft to a mass-hotter-then-the-sun, went a tasty bite, and quickly also, for once. the lemon shattered haddock had to be tied to the plate, because this teig was so light that it almost raised to the deck. but as soon as this handmade tasty tartaric acid sauce meets, any responsible 'handler-of-the-fork', wants to make sure that its only trajectory can be swallowed in their waiting swallow. It was so good, I couldn't stand to leave a single diesel and with this tartaric acid sauce, which even made a bulky chip, was nothing left, I was ashamed to ask the cook the recipe for 'this sauce', as he made such a light oil-free beautiful teig. the staff is very attentive, courteous, with a beautiful large sitting area also. get yourself here quickly bungalows to make an ordinary experience, in an excellent exciting eating expedition into a court that we all know so well, but so different. ... enjoy."

"Ever since they opened, I 've been for family gatherings, social events and dates and every time it has not disappointed. The staff are always welcoming and have a positive attitude. They are attentive, happily explaining the menu and how food should be ordered making recommendations. The menu itself doesn 't overwhelm with choice and is perfect for those with all tastes. There are plenty of veggie options and the wine is impeccably selected. The food is absolutely delicious and very well presented. The quality is evident. The portion sizes are perfect and not just stomach fillers (e.g. excess bread or rice). Every bite feels worth it. Please be aware that this restaurant is about sharing and each dish is made for it. There are no 'courses '. It 's about ordering the dishes you want and they will arrive when ready. With all the above in mind, this does mean that the prices are on the higher end and with alcohol you can expect to spend around £40 per person if you also include desserts (which are also incredible, especially the Creme brûlée). This might seem expensive, but remember, it 's about the experience, not just the food! Tabure is worth every penny in my humble opinion. If it 's just the two of you and you 'd like something different with a significant other, I 'd highly suggest requesting seats at the chefs table over looking the charcoal grill! It 's amazing watching the chefs work their magic and adds so much to the experience that most restaurants don 't provide."
