"**Hotel Review:** Is it an upscale B&B or a boutique hotel? It's a bit of both—although the reception isn't open 24 hours. It's worth taking the time to choose your room since they are individually listed on the website and each has its unique layout. We had a large group and had to shuffle between our four rooms to accommodate everyone's preferences after seeing them. Our rooms, all located in the Ancient House, were spacious and tastefully decorated, making for a very comfortable stay. There were generous complimentary refreshments in the fridge. The breakfasts were excellent, cooked to order from a menu with plenty of options. One thing to note is that the earliest breakfast is at 8 AM, and since you have to wait for your order to be prepared, it isn't ideal for an early departure. The location is fantastic for visiting the Holkham Estate and Nature Reserve, and they also provide helpful free parking permits for several local car parks managed by the Estate. **Restaurant Review:** Please note that the restaurant appears to be reserved for guests during breakfast and dinner but welcomes non-residents for lunch, which is when most guests are likely out sightseeing. I expected a gastropub experience, but this place is aiming much higher (I understand that offering an amuse-bouche is a standard practice if you're targeting a Michelin Star?). The menu is concise and frequently changes, featuring a range of excellent meat, seafood, and vegetarian dishes with a fine dining emphasis. However, the restaurant can accommodate those with simpler tastes if you're dining in a larger group. Be sure to check out the daily specials, known as Plats de Jour. For hotel guests, the dinner, bed, and breakfast package offers great value (drinks not included). The service is excellent, and the atmosphere leans more towards fine dining than a gastropub."

We did have a late service yet that shouldn't mean the roast beef was well cooked. The veg was ok. Except for the braised cabbage which was good. Shame they automatically add 12% service charge to your bill.

A nice restaurant with good service. Unfortunately, the power went out on our visit (all local area down), but the staff did an excellent job in communication, and we did manage to get our meals. Service: 5 Location: 5

We stopped here for lunch after walking on Holkham Beach, certainly upmarket but not overpriced for the quality of the food and impeccable service. Will definitely be back. Food drinks: Excellent food! Service: 5 Location: 5

The service, staff, and overall atmosphere of the place were excellent. However, I found the food to be just average, especially considering the prices. The burger was overly well-done and lacked flavor; for £20, I expected more than just a small bowl of chips without any coleslaw or a decent salad. The dessert, while visually appealing, was only slightly warmed and fell flat—it was just a small piece of apple cake with a bit of custard for £9. I appreciate that it’s North Norfolk and I'm willing to pay a premium, but I expect the quality to be better than average.

We've been coming to Wells and Holkham for years and used to love stopping in the Pub here to thaw out and have a pint and a breather on out circular walk. What a disappointment to find it's now only a posh hotel restaurant, and mildly scruffy but not skint) walkers such as ourselves are no longer welcome to have a couple of jars.... : UPDATE : so, having scrolled down and seen all the other people making a similar comment, and reading the owners business reasoning, I'm still a bit miffed, so why not do a pop up bar in the courtyard for the Summer months which can close during Winter? You'd make a killing!

We stayed for 3 nights at The Victoria with a couple of friends and two dogs and couldn’t recommend it highly enough. The staff were so friendly and professional; with a particular shout out for Euan and Inez who looked after us (and the dogs) so well and were so welcoming. The food was incredible and particularly exciting when you know that the dinner menu will be different every night! The rooms and overall facilities were done to such a high quality, yet it managed to retain a feeling of being very homely and relaxing. The location is brilliant; 5 mins walk to Holkham Hall estate and 5 mins walk to the beautiful coastline. Our dog literally lived his best life for those few days; enjoying...
