"Been here a couple of times–the first by chance, the second on purpose with a beer lover in tow. I knew he’d like it. It’s one of those proper ale pubs with a menu of interesting beers chalked up on a blackboard. And it seems to have won various awards. It’s a beautiful, small, traditional cottage pub with two cosy bar rooms and a hatch where you order your drinks. First time I visited, it was summer, and I sat outside in the pretty garden that climbs up a slope. They serve a lunch buffet of quality cold food, and I had a lovely piece of cheese-potato-and-chive pie with salad and slaw Everything I’ve drunk here was very well kept. I sampled a variety of what they offer, including dark beers and ciders. Not one dud. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and proud of what they do. Pubs like this are rare and to be treasured. If you like good ale or quaint country pubs, the White Horse should be right up your street."

I have to admit I have never eaten at the White Horse but for a beer drinker it is exceptional. 8 ales served from the cask in tip top condition plus ciders wines etc. beautiful on the outside, stepping back in time inside a joy to visit

an excellent irrigation hole for those who appreciate good beer can serve a real pub a great selection of real ales and lemons. it's a pretty distance to travel for me, but it's worth making the effort, especially when kevin sits on the beer festivals.

Just the place for a relaxing lunch. Please don't expect Farrow Ball paint or a chef that just wants to show off. This is a very old fashioned pub with beautifully kept beers and food that appeals to everyone. I think the prices are the best in the area.

We arrived at 12:10 and there was already lots of cars parked along the village to have the chance of getting a meal here. Simple, healthy beautiful looking food and a great range of beers impressed me very much. I will definitely be coming back for more another day!

that was 40 years ago my local, his charm and character remained the same. the boutique beer and eating turned the pub into the 21st century. Although I lived in New Zealand, I was back several times when I visited the united kingdom. the British pub and everything she has to offer for young and old.

Our walking group had lunch here, and most had the excellent value lunches rather than the usual sandwiches. We ate under cover in the garden (where there were lots of tables) as is our preference these days. Lasagne, Lamb macaroni and quiche were all good and excellent value. Tables could perhaps do with a renovation

Visited here recently on a Sunday for lunch after completing a circular walk around Hedgerley. Friendly welcome and shown to a table in the garden which was quite spacious. Service was good, good choice of guest ales and a reasonable choice of food for lunch. I chose the roast beef which whilst they serve a generous plateful I didn’t find the overall taste and quality to be that good. Our table and bench seat were on a slope and there was too big a gap between the table and bench, the bench wouldn’t move so that didn’t help the eating experience.
