"I ordered the scallops, black pudding, and muddy brooms, which were nice, although the portion seemed a bit off. My dad's burger was well-cooked and beautifully presented, but it felt somewhat mass-produced. The same could be said for the hunter's chicken my partner ordered; it was tasty and nicely presented, but nothing extraordinary. The desserts, however, were a highlight. We all opted for the mini desserts, but they seemed more like regular portions. The Eton mess was delightful, the brownie with ice cream was very good, and the crumble was crisp and fruity with a lovely custard. The espresso coffees were a bit bitter but served piping hot. I would suggest offering a small liqueur with the mini desserts, as we experienced this combination in France, and it’s a lovely way to finish off a meal. I was a little disappointed to see that the Windhover has become a chain restaurant, reminiscent of a classier Harvester. The menu a few years ago was much more unique and personalized. Overall, it was a very pleasant lunch, but I’m not entirely sure if I would return."
