"15 minute wait to be seated, 10 minute wait to have drinks order taken, another 10 spent in a short queue that wasn’t moving, food was absolutely delicious and I can’t fault it however I have never been served such a small amount of meat at any carvery, especially on a king size! I overheard other customers unhappy about the amount of meat they were served, Cardiff Gate is much better value for money. Then returned to the table to eat, enjoyed the food, quickly finished my drink but was not offered another one at any point during my visit. We eventually managed to flag down a waitress to order desserts, which came out incorrect 20 minutes later, however this was quickly rectified. Witnessed several customers having to ask a waitress to get a carver from the back, and shockingly saw a carver come out to carve meat for a staff members dinner, then return to the kitchen again leaving customers still queuing. Finally gave up waiting for a waitress to ask for the bill and went up to the bar to pay around 2 hours after we entered. Service from start to finish was lacking, especially at 3pm on a Thursday afternoon. I will stick to Cardiff Gate from now on; I'd hate to further inconvenience these staff."

It's a tobey carvery. Good service and good food. Some inconsistency with portions and speed of service, but nothing that detracts from the food View menu

Mia was absolute comedy, true professional, best server ever. She knew that we had a 20% discount code . 5 star for everything, all because of Mia. Love you Mia!

The food at this restaurant is fantastic and reasonably priced. Della provided us with attentive and prompt service. We would like to thank Toby for a wonderful dining experience.

Breakfast was lovely and nothing was missing! Plenty of choice and very tasty. Our chef was Stan and he did it perfectly. As soon as one dish was emptied by the customer, he quickly replaced it with a fresh one. Recommended. View menu

****. 3 cask pumps, no cask beer. Only drinks on tap were lager. Can't say if that was any good because after standing ignored at the bar for 10 mins I went across the road to Tesco and got a drink from there. Zero atmosphere Zero drinks Zero service.

There was a wide variety of options and the meat was moist. In addition to the main dishes, there were extras like green beans, dauphine potatoes, mac & cheese, cauliflower cheese, sweetcorn, and roast potatoes cooked in dripping. Everything was delicious!

"It was the most bizarre experience dining here. First when we arrived in the restaurant, our group set up was that there was someone on each end who was sitting facing an empty chair on the other side of the table. Upon enquiry we understood it was a covid measure, however never had any other restaurants requesting such seating arrangements in the past 20 months. We ordered two split pots, a non-spicy broth for one side of the pot and a spicy broth for the other side. The staff came to confirm that we wanted spicy/non-spicy in each pot. Yes, we said. To our shock when the pots came, one pot was spicy/spicy on both side, and the other was non-spicy/non-spicy on both sides. This was after the staff had came by to confirm that we wanted a spicy/non-spicy set-up, and in the usual situation a person wanting a spicy broth would not have asked for a split pot. We raised this to the staff and were clearly unhappy about it, though did not insist on having the broths changed around. What happened next made it the most awkward and uncomfortable dining experience ever. From where we were sitting, we could hear the owner reprimanding the staff for the error, throughout our meal. We understand mistakes occur and if the owner was unhappy about the mistake and genuinely wanted to apologise, taking the initiative to change the broth to the right setup, or a complimentary drink or dish would have gone a long way. But no, he chose to reprimand the staff within our hearing for the whole dinner (which didn't help the situation one bit and made the experience worse! . We felt sorry for the staff. Even with the hospitality shortage, that was a completely wrong way to help the staff improve, nor help retain them in the long run. I don't remember anything about the food, although photos did show a good range to choose from. At the end of the meal we each received a box of hello panda, which might have helped, if not for the fact they were expired. All in all, would not recommend."
