"Taking the time to book for a lunch to celebrate my sister's 84 birthday- I rang to book a table for 3 people on the day before. I mentioned that it was my sister's birthday and that we would like to sit by a window because she had poor eye sight. I was curtly told that if a table was available by the window we could have it but otherwise we would be put where it was convenient for the restaurant. We were given a dark booth . It appears that this restaurant values its walk in customers rather than their loyal customers My sister has spent hundreds of pounds in Tosac over the years. Food was good but welcome very poor"

This Italian restaurant offers beautiful views of the river and has a friendly staff. The food is consistently delicious and the atmosphere is relaxed. Be sure to try the pizzas, they are just like the ones you would find in Italy – superb! View menu

Initial greeting was very half hearted, service throughout was very average. Didn’t feel overly welcome. For a Saturday afternoon it was quite empty. The food was pretty good the experience would’ve been much more enjoyable had the staff been friendlier.

Second visit to this restaurant. Wonderful menu, very hard to make a decision as such a good and tempting selection of dishes . Food is excellent, fresh, homemade, and reasonably priced. Lovely ambiance, excellent service and great views of the river. Can’t wait to go back! Highly recommend.

What a wonderful lunch. There were 47 of us a large family) The food was served in perfect timing considering how many there were of us. Everything about the lunch was superb. Thanks you to all of the team for making it a wonderful experience for our mum. Would definitely recommend to families. View menu

Not our first visit however I am ashamed our last was perhaps 15 years ago. Why? well we live in Warwick so it is quite a drive for lunch. As before this eatery never disappoints for quality food, exceptional service at a reasonable price. Love the new extended dining area overlooking the river and especially as the day we visited the sun was hot.

The restaurant was nice, was very busy so must be popular, the food was good but the staff seemed to be obsessed with the price of everything. The drink I asked for managed to instigate two different members of staff coming over to tell me the cost, I asked for bread for the table and I was told the cost, my friend asked for sun dried tomatoes in her pasta and again had someone come over and tell her the cost. I’m assuming they’ve had problems in the past but it was a bit excessive

"Last night, I had the pleasure of dining at Etch by Steven Edwards in Brighton, and I can confidently say it was one of the most memorable meals I’ve had in recent memory. From the moment we walked in, the ambiance was warm and inviting, with modern yet comfortable décor that set the tone for a truly elevated dining experience. The menu, a celebration of seasonal ingredients and innovative cooking techniques, offered a delightful blend of creativity and finesse. Each dish was expertly crafted, balancing bold flavors with delicate textures. Standout moments included the scallops cooked to perfect and the marmite infused bread, where the precision in cooking was evident in every bite. The use of locally sourced produce added a fresh, vibrant touch to each course, and the presentation was nothing short of stunning. Service was attentive without being intrusive, with staff offering knowledgeable recommendations and explaining the inspiration behind each dish. The wine pairings, too, were thoughtfully chosen, complementing the flavors of the meal beautifully. What impressed me most, however, was how Etch manages to combine a fine dining experience with a relaxed atmosphere, making it the perfect spot for both special occasions and casual indulgence. In short, Steven Edwards has created a restaurant that not only excels in flavor but also offers an experience that feels both personal and extraordinary. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Brighton who appreciates exceptional food and great service.
