"This restaurant was recommended to a work colleague and me by our German host. It was within easy walking distance (10-15 minutes) of the Hotel zur Linde, where we were staying. Note that the restaurant is closed on Mondays. The restaurant is in an historic old building with wonderful wooden beams and pillars. It claims to have been a family run inn since 1558.The restaurant is entered through a lovely old courtyard, which would be a cool dark oasis on a hot summer’s day. On arriving, we encountered a coach party leaving the restaurant so we timed our entrance just right. We noticed that several tables were reserved so it is obviously a popular restaurant. We managed to find a table and our order was taken. During the evening we saw no sign of any male workers – all the cooking and serving seemed to be done by three ladies who could have been from one family as we thought we could discern facial similarities. We were served by a middle-aged lady who, at first, seemed rather brusque with little knowledge of English. Therefore I quickly got out my trusty German phrase book and dictionary and proceeded to translate the menu and what to say. We’d been told the rump steak was excellent so we both chose that, ordering our steaks the way we liked best in our poorly pronounced German. However, we ensured our order was understood by pointing to the relevant words!Firstly, we had a salad dressed in an excellent vinaigrette. The rump steak came with fried onions and potatoes. It was extremely tasty and cooked to perfection. Very tender. It was washed down very well with a local red wine, full of fruit and with just enough body.We fancied a dessert and selected something we thought was black forest gateau. It was close but not quite gateau. On telling of our experience later, back in the UK, to a better German speaker it emerged that a better translation was black forest cup or goblet. Anyway, whatever it was was delicious. Lashings of cream covering a lot of black cherries and ice cream with copious quantities of liquor – seriously alcoholic! We were one of the last people to leave the restaurant and, we assume that by making the effort of trying to speak in German, were wished a very warm auf Wiedersehen by all the staff. The staff definitely had warmed to us during the evening. We staggered back to our hotel having enjoyed a wonderful last evening on our business trip.We both thoroughly recommend this restaurant, which also has a separate guesthouse with about 8 rooms. We will definitely be returning. The restaurant is a great alternative from those in Karslruhe itself. It is easy to get to this restaurant from Karlsruhe by tram (S5 line)."

"before our visit the extraordinary service of the villa hammerschmiede was shown. we were alerted to the fact that the way to the hotel was difficult to get through by a full lockout on the route and you better get to the next carbahn exit. The hotel is wonderfully located in a beautiful park, the restaurant consists of several single stubs and a winter garden, so there is a cozy atmosphere everywhere. the greeting is warm, we were led to our table in winter garden. the personal is always attentive and extremely friendly. we had a four-course menu, before that there were two greetings from the kitchen. first a crispy meatline with red Bete-Marshmallow, beautifully dressed and very tasty. then fresh radishes with a dreamy juicy bauern bread with crispy rim, with beard leash butter. The first floor: live with arabica and kakao on evente and shiso leaves. the deenleber very creamy and by arabica and kakao unanimous taste experience perfectly harmonized with the quilt.Third floor: beard soup and fried gambero rosso. the teller was first served only with the gambero rosso with south wood foam, so you can see what is in the suppe and then pour on the table with the blue soup. very fine beardy taste, not too much or too little.Third floor (main passage): roasted breast of bead with celery puree and over-chosen black truffle. the hull, the skin crispy, the light sweet in the celery puree was neutralized by the taste-intensive black truffle. To finish there was still a wonderful dessert made of rhubarb and creamy beaten Greek yogurt with a mousse made of white chocolate. to order espresso came two mini-macarons that tasted fine after espresso. the menu was accompanied by a wine trip, the respective wee were perfectly selected and perfectly matched to the food. we found that the driver did not have to miss a wine trip, but always got a glass with a small amount of wine served. on the bill this special service did not appear. For us, the relatiw wide trip was quite rewarded. we met a beautiful restaurant in a wonderful environment. the food and the service was perfect and for us it was a fantastic evening. you can only recommend."

"my mother invited my brother and me to another Christmas dinner with partners instead of a Christmas gift. we could remember the meal two years ago! for a starter is the location of the restaurant on the tower mountain already a bonus. on a good day they can see very far over the Rhine plain. outside is the smallest Christmas market of karlsruhe, in the grunde is a stall where they can get gluh wine, champagne, champagne and small bisse. there is another standing who prepare more eating on the terrace. but we had booked a table in the restaurant. we all ordered the 7-course tasting menu with accompanying wine flight. we had not all necessarily eat the same as they were able to choose their courses. the choice consists of a 4-course menu with or without a accompany wine flight. of course they can also decide on a single court. the service was very good, attentive and prompt. the wee all come from the local wine mountains in baths and the pfalz and matched the eating very well. all the dishes were nice to watch and also good to eat! the portions appear a little bit small, but as they continue with the curses, they reach exactly the right level of sattness. Watch them, seven glasses of wine with the meal, plus some champagne before, they better not do when they arrive with the car! to the happiness karlsruhe has a very good public transport system. all in all this is a place for a special eating and they will not be disappointed. do not wait to come back in two years!"
