"Visited the restaurant for a wedding anniversary. Nice setting, great food and wine. There is no menu, just a list of dishes on a blackboard.Everything is cooked to order, so food does not come too fast, and there is never a rush. We had seared scalops and broiled goat's cheese on an apple in a wild herb salad as a starter, split a bowl of pasta with a minced duck breast sauce and had beef filet and a rack of lamb for the main course. They serve home-made Italian bread with tapenade to start off, and between courses serve a micr-sized bowl of soup, this time cream of asparagus. They have a wide selection of red and white wines, but we chose a rose that went well with all the courses. There was no room left for desert so we ended our evening with a delicious espresso. But their prosecco sorbet is out of this worldI would suggest making reservations."

Second time here and once again it was a great gastronomic experience. They have charming cardboard for todays menu and good selection of wines. Pasta special good. If you look for a safe choice in darmstadt, you have found it.

This is one of the best Italian places I tried outside Italy that still keeps the real trattoria feel if maybe not the prices. I have been here twice with friends and colleagues and on both occasions appetisers (especially the fish ones), pasta and main dishes were delicious; dessert I tried were OK but a little below the rest, not too much of a problem as I am not a big pudding eater.

Because of doing business in Darmstadt, I've had the opportunity to try most of the upscale restaurants in Darmstadt. This is the best of them.Great food and friendly staff makes this my first choice for business lunches as well as dinners. Pricing is moderate if you consider the quality you get (expect to pay around €40-60 for a two course dinner, excluding drinks).During the summer, ask for a table on the terrace!

Got lost wandering around Darmstadt and happened to find this restaurant that someone at our hotel mentioned. Walked in without reservations for the four of us and initially a little fuss. Once the food part got going- wow. Beautifully made appetizers (huge) and absolutely delicious pasta dishes. Owner serenaded the diners with his guitar. Spectacular meal. You never know what hidden gem you'll find around the corner!

Not sure whether this is "one of the best Italian places outside Italy". The staff is definitely not as open and friendly as one can find in a trattoria in Italy. The food is good and tasty, but again, a plate of pasta starting at EUR 16 and main starting at EUR 25 is almost triple as in Italy and twice for comparable places in Germany. One innovative point for having the menu on a chalkboard, but overall the reputation is apparently as high as the prices but not reflecting reality.

As any of you that have read my reviews before will know, I travel to Darmstadt a lot with work and I am always on the lookout for new places to eat. This wonderful restaurant is 5 minutes walk from the Ramada Hotel and was recommended by a work colleague and I can't speak too highly of it. The owner is friendly and knowledgeable and the food is phenomenal and seasonal. I actually like it when certain selections run out as it shows that they are popular and made in small batches. Starter, main and dessert were fabulous and the recommended wine complemented them perfectly. Definitely returning!

The menu is on a chalk board, in Italian. The waiters speak Italian, German and English in that order...It feels like a provincial Italian restaurant....especially as our visit coincided with a heatwave and at 8pm it was still close to 30c. 4 of us went there for dinner, cooked by Steve who is there quite often. He was greeted as an old friend and we were looked after well. I had salmon sashimi, Italian style: thin slices of very fresh salmon served with the usual Japanese condiments. This was followed by simply grilled tiger prawns served with garlic and olive oil and a side salad. Perfectly cooked, gloriously tasty. We drank a wine recommended by the waiter: full, mellow and undeniably Ita...
