"This was the first time we've been to Kirton Cottage and it definitely won't be the last. Really nice atmosphere, cosy surroundings, amazing food with a Hostess that clearly has experience in the restaurant business, just the right balance of attention making it a very pleasant evening indeed. "my wife and children came out a few weeks ago for our jubilee meal. it's my first time, and we both enjoyed it very much. the lady who served us was polite, very attentive and kept our children entertaining every time they came to serve us. I had the mackerel pate for the starter, with the lamb rump for the head. Normally I don't really like to laugh, but saw another customer order and it looked so good, I asked her what she had ordered and got the same herself. it was absolutely perfect cooked, a huge piece of meat, beautiful medium rare, juicy, well seasoned and came with a potato terrine for which I must find the recipe, it was so good. my wife had the spiced pork bells for the starter after some encouragement of me (I wanted to try a bit) and for the main the chicken superb with chorizo, new kartoffels and a beautiful cream sauce, all served in a baked dish. they said it was the best meal we ever had. both children had sausage and maic, and we all had brownie for the desert. I'm not a sweet person, but thought the rest of the food was so good, I'll get something from the sweet menu also (and I was right) meal came to about £80 overall, slightly expensive, but I don't have a problem to pay much for food of this quality. I'm trying to find a way to go."

"The food portions were huge, but unfortunately my steak was not cooked to my liking. The lasagna was a bit bland but still decent. The service was the biggest letdown of the night. We waited 15 minutes at the bar before being seated, and then waited an additional 25 minutes before even being acknowledged. It took 50 minutes for our food to arrive, and we were so frustrated that we almost left without eating. The waitresses spent a lot of time in the kitchen, neglecting to check on us or refill our drinks. Another table waited an hour just for their appetizer, so we decided to skip dessert. When we went to pay, we had to track down a server for assistance. It's disappointing because the food was okay, but the poor service ruined the overall experience. For a meal over £40, the level of service was unacceptable, especially since it was a special occasion. We left feeling awkward and regretful that we had spent so much money. We will not be returning to this restaurant."

"We hold our Military Veterans Breakfast club here every Saturday mornings. Always looked after well. Friendly and helpful Staff Management. Our area we use on those mornings are set up for us. Breakfast is good and value for money, scrambled eggs would be a good extra to put on menu, as some have dietary needs and cant eat some items. Always ready for us to help ourselves."

"We've been to the Chain Bridge three or four times over the last few months and have never been disappointed. The staff are friendly and professional. The food is always great with decent sized portions. I'm actually dieting at the moment so having calorie counts on the menu is helpful. I love that you can get skinny versions of meals too. This time I had a skinny pizza and it was a perfect meal for me. I got a half sized pizza and a bowl of salad which was plenty, delicious and very filling. My husband had a full sized pizza and was also impressed. I love that the salads are always beautifully fresh and crisp. I also love that I can use my Blue Light Card here. It means that we can eat out more often and share the experience with our family. This visit we bought our son and his partner with us. Both had burgers and said that they were really good. We were all full and couldn't manage desserts this time. The only small niggle was that the coffee machine was broken and we couldn't have a cappuccino afterwards. All in all it was a great experience and we'll definitely be back. Thank you."
