"We stayed at the owner’s bed and breakfast down the road and were invited to this restaurant for dinner. What can I say, but wow! I think this dinner was our best in Italy, and that’s saying something after visiting Rome, Florence and a a five-star resort and spa in the Tuscan countryside! The only person in the restaurant that spoke English was the chef, and he was more than happy to come out and visit our table and ask us what types of food we like. He then asked us if we would trust him, and we said “yes, of course!“ We were not let down! What followed was a truly unique dining experience that began with a pasta dish that included a cream-based Bolognese sauce, mushrooms, peas and a few diced carrots, all of it fresh, hot and undeniably delicious! Next up was a bottle of local Merlot paired with a large bacon-wrapped grilled fillet and roasted potatoes. The chef then brought us some after-dinner liquor made by his wife. We were too full for coffee and dessert, but we’re sure it would’ve been just as wonderful. Hands-down, the best meal we’ve had during our time in Italy! We could not recommend with a higher level of confidence that you will enjoy a one-of-a-kind meal at a very affordable price (about half the cost of a similar meal in Florence)!"

We stumbled across this restaurant and so glad that we did. Lovely service, excellent food and delightful location. The staff were attentive and gave very good food suggestions as well as wine. There were four of us and we all enjoyed the food very much. Don't miss this place, really worth it!!

My wife and I waited until the end of our stay in Fondi to revisit Vicolo di Mblo on a Saturday afternoon. In short, it was as good as we recalled it from our first visit during a trip to Italy 18 months ago. Rather than order from the menu, the waiter suggested that he bring us several appetizers and then we could determine if we wanted more. We are happy we took the suggestion. Our meal began with a rich, delicious, simple tortino: pieces of merluzzo (a fish) with olives between two thin layers of potato slices, rich with the olive oil they seem to have been cooked in. The second plate was three pieces of poached baccala with a sauce of what seemed to be braised onion and cherry tomatoes....
