"the service was painfully slow. we had to ask for menus, even if the table has been booked to eat. the main thing came after a considerable wait, we had to ask that they delete the table and ask a point of wonder how long dessert would take, as we did not have much time left. we were cursed when the dessert finally came. the food was average, the baked on the veg wellington was soggy, green veg over boiled and chips barely cooked on one of the meals. the personal said they were extremely busy, but the tables around us were empty, but the bar itself was busy. very disappointing when I heard and read good things."

Found booking online easy, greeting from staff when we arrived was lovely, food superb, good value for money. Would recommend to family and friends.

Oldest pub in town dating back to Tudor times. Occupied hunting for many historical remarks including Shakespeare. The menu is simple and seasonal. Food is excellent. The offer of beer is good.

bad table assignment if there are enough tables available, above average cost for average quality, noisy, young people not the ambiente we were looking for. the first time and probably the last.

Very tasty huge portion of meat a little more aioli or sauce would have been welcome. A quiet, private ish room and very quick, friendly service. This is a pub we enjoy and return to frequently.

our first visit and we ordered the pflugmanns board, exceeded our expectations really, it was amazing. the place is beautiful and the personal was so friendly and efficient. definitiw will be back every time we are in the opposite.

Staff were extremely pleasant and my vegetarian curry was delicious.Only gave 4 stars instead of 5 as Christmas dinner was not as hot as could have been especially the potatoes. Beautiful atmospheric old pub gorgeous Christmas decorations.

The meal was generally good but the little things that are the cheapest were lacking ie the salad was rocket alone needed a few Tom's and onion amixed salad . A few more chips and cooked to brown not white, and the sauce a bit drizzled on the platet was gorgeous but not enough the meat was nice but dry .a bit more sauce would have been a vast improvement all cheap but missing
