"I was pleasantly surprised by what the Weinstube had to offer for hotel guests. Commonly restaurants in hotels have food that is a bit lacking and servers who are underpar. I found neither to be the case for the Weinstube at the Hilton Mainz. I ordered the Braised Beef in Dornfelder sauce and thought it was very tasty. Others may not agree, but I felt it was a German version of potroast. The sauce was a great compliment to the beef, vegetables, and mashed potatoes. I really enjoyed the dish, which my server had said many enjoy.I must also compliment my two servers, who I found out as I was leaving is a mother/daughter team. Monika and Vanessa were excellent. They both switch between German and English flawlessly which made for a great experience for this American with a rudimentary command of German. They were both social in talking to me and answering my various questions about the menu, and were very attentive to everything I needed without needing to constantly checkin on me. While the food was good, the service of these two was a really pleasant experience and certainly one where I would want to come back."

I was not a fan of the food. I ate there one day and the food was very average, but very over priced. Go into town and enjoy so real German food.

There are many good restaurants in Mainz. I would not recommend eating at the hotel. Our food was not that good, very dry and bland. Salads were very good however. View menu

Nice terrace with river view. Especially a warm August night was really relaxing. Staff is very kind, but slow and inattentive. The food is reasonable, and at Hilton prices not inexpensive.

"we thought it was time that four years ago opened patagonia in the mainzer neustadt to test. the bus and tram connection is excellent, the parking situation is very difficult. there is an outside area at the restaurant, and the dining room is large and clear. because the guests were distributed outside and inside, the reservation about opentable would not have been necessary. so we were allowed to choose a table and were welcomed by the two ladies in the service friendly. we found a rectangle with a view of a large flatscreen, on which a diashow of pictures ran from patagonia, which first triggered television. steaks are offered in all variations, and the selection is quite difficult. we first took three empanadas with different fillings that relatiw quickly came out of the kitchen and taste very good.My wife decided in the main course for a rumpsteak of the even medium rare with grill potatoes and salad. I had previously researched the card in the internet and asked myself what a flap steak was. wikipedia helped and so I knew it was a cut that is very common in patagonia and comes very close to the us sirloin strip. I wanted to try this and ordered it **** in the bloom. I took a foil potato. both supplements were handed with the obligatory sourcream with coriander. the two supplemental salads were fresh, colourful and crisp, with the carrots also liked as a supplement. Even with critical consideration, the performance was in all respects of expectations: the services were extremely friendly and stood also in the meat selection with rat and did the side. the we chose to be perfectly met. confusingly I found the hints in the menu on the recommended per steak. these were all together and especially between medium and well done. that was not comprehensible for me because of the top quality of meat, all in all a very successful evening with a quite reasonable price-performance ratio. we like to come back to patagonia."
