"We tried the White Hart during our tour of the various places to eat in town while on our walking holiday. Honestly, there are so many great places to eat in Moretonhapstead, but this sadly isn’t one of them. The food was mostly pub grub with the distinct feeling that it was more warmed up then cooked. We were also warned of a long wait for food, citing a lack of staff. While we had booked, we needn’t have bothered, the place was empty. All the locals were at the nearby restaurant instead. All in all, it’s probably worth it if you are staying in the hotel and need a meal…but in all honesty you would be better going somewhere else."

We had a lovely lunch and the service was first rate. The staff could not have been more welcoming and friendly. The kitchen was just about to close but they still made us feel very welcome. Thank you!

We visited here twice, once for cream tea and the other for an evening meal. Staff were very friendly, welcoming and attentive. Food was gorgeous and would definitely return if we visit the area again.

A return visit to this wonderful hotel. Great freshly cooked breakfast from menu. Evening meals were wonderful with a great variety and offering good value for money. First class service each night. Highly recommended. View menu

We were a family of two adults and two children, age 8 and 13, and had minced lamb, spaghetti carbonara and a hunters burger. All of it, was very good quality and tasted really good. The waiter provided a good service and the price was fair, so all in all a really good experience.

Flawed, but we love it. The food is always good, no question. The service at the bar can be slow, painfully slow at times. The music seems to be for the entertainment of the staff, not the customer. With a bit more effort it could be leagues better, but we still love it and still keep coming back.

Promising vibe from the menu and website. Low key atmosphere, horrible bland fish pie. Very disappointing. We're staying in hotel and had booked breakfast which was much, much better although I would prefer a less environmentally damaging approach to butter (individually wrapped portions) and jam/marmalade (tiny individual jars). Very excited to eat here with a friend as there are lots of veggie/vegan and gf options. Unfortunately I was left very disappointed when I was told that 4 out the 5 options weren’t actually suitable for veggie/vegan, due to the chips. The chips and anything fried is cooked in the fish fryer. They have 2 fryers, one gf and one for everything else. I ended up having the salad. Incorrect allergen advice on the menu, so disappointed that we won’t be back.

More hotel than pub, this is a good base to explore the glorious Devon countryside in an historic market town. Very good value and attractive B and B. Comfortable and clean room with a couple of tub armchairs. Decent shower and for a change superior loo roll paper. Irritating bathroom extractor which goes on forever. Oh well. Good simple breakfast choices which does the job. Inferior sauce sachets. Very comfortable communal lounge area with plenty of extra comfy sofas. Log fire, sadly not on fire. Cosy bar area but again log burner unlit. Pleasant crew.
