"I live locally and visited today for the first time following my parents recommendation having visited for the first time themselves recently with friends all of which enjoyed their visit. We sat outside to enjoy the beautiful surrounding views and had a round of drinks...prior to ordering food. We had pie, chicken burgers and a cheese sharing platter. Food was piping hot, delicious and heartily portioned. Staff were all very friendly and accommodating. Will recommend to friends/family that visit the area, it’s a hidden Gem with spectacular views over Matlock Bath, the cable car and also has a footpath down to the area. My New Local which I never knew existed. P.S Regarding the mis-leading negative review below: The sharing platters do state that they are served with salad and sauce. There is a note below that chips can be ordered at an additional cost. The burgers and pies that we ordered are advertised on a separate part of the menu as having side garnish and fries etc. There is zero confusion with this."

Menu had no prices! Food was overpriced for quality of food. The only reason we went was the rating.. I just don’t understand who would rate it so high.

great place to enjoy good eating and lonely, friendly staff and welcoming atmosphere. one of those places that are difficult to leave. in any case, they recommend it either on the winter evening or on the sunny day. Great place to stop if it is for a walk or a special meal. love the burgers!

we had a nice family trip for dinner, eating was amazing as always. we had a fish starter and cheese starter between 4 of us who are very beautiful and fill! then three steak pies and a chicken cake that was incredible! Always...to feel welcome by the nice staff, they can not do enough for us

booked a table for dinner on a Wednesday at the arrival it was 'pie night' certainly not disappointed as a good selection of very delicious cake awaits us! my wife and I received a warm welcome from the friendly and helpful owners. this is. a beautiful place in a picturesque location, the high above matlock bad and the height of abraham. the natives also made us very welcome. all in a big pub worth a visit!

Having visited this pub for lunch I would have to advise anyone not to bother, particularly if they are feeling hungry. We ordered a fish platter to share for around £13, the menu stated this was served with salad and fries. You would assume that...this would serve two people, what little food that did arrive barely covered the small polystyrene plate, it barely served one, let alone two people, the fries did not arrive at all. The waitress was quick in taking payment, but refused to catch our eye or ask how the food was, we were forced to go to the bar to ask for the advertised fries, where the staff argued over the meaning of All served with fries as stated on their menu. Eventually a smal...
