"This was our second visit to the pub, which is beautifully decorated. We booked in to enjoy an early evening Sunday roast and a few drinks. The young lady who greeted us was warm and welcoming and she thoughtfully put us in a quiet little corner so our large dog wouldn’t be a nuisance to any of the other diners. She also brought our drinks quickly before taking our food order. Unfortunately a few more tables arrived and the dining room was getting full and that’s when it seemed the staff couldn’t cope. We’d ordered another drink as our starters arrived but we got through our first and second courses without the drink arriving. There were also two booths to the side of us and each of these parties were waiting well over half an hour to receive their drinks and there was no sign of any food, so something was wrong either with the bar staff, or not having enough waiting staff on duty to look after the number of diners. After we’d finished, I went to the bar to ask for the bill and the waitress was just pulling my husband’s beer as I approached. Unfortunately it was too late by then as we’d finished eating. To be fair to her, she’d already realised people weren’t getting their drinks and had gone behind the bar to pull them herself. She was extremely apologetic. I told her I wasn’t blaming her, as I could see she was running around busy the whole time we were there and she could only do so much, so this review is absolutely not aimed at her. When she had time, she was brilliant at her job. I’m writing it in the hope that whoever manages the dining room either gets some more resource in place during busy periods or they organise their team better. The food was good on the whole. My ceaser salad starter was lovely and the roast beef dinner was good, although the gravy didn’t seem to be made homemade, which was a shame. My husband had slow roasted belly pork tasty but this hadn’t been roasted for long enough, so the fat hadn’t rendered down like it should have done."

Lovely little place. Service very good. Had the Sunday dinner, was ok. Maybe as there was a wedding on kitchen a little busy. Would try again however if in the area.

Went for Sunday lunch, was very nice, massive Yorkshire pudding a hit with me. Managed to squeeze sticky toffee pudding which was also lovely. Friendly staff and nice interior. View menu

Food was fantastic but service was appalling . Didn’t get any drinks until after first course was done. They seem very short staffed and our waitress was almost in tears as she was so stressed.

Staff were all very friendly and attentive. Food was all well presented and cooked. Perhaps a little pricey but it was good quality. If I was to be in the area again I’d probably choice different options and look to stay overnight.

We had a really lovely Sunday lunch which was very tasty and enjoyed by all. The service was great and the setting was lovely. It was a tad warm inside and there was an occasionally noisy dog at the next table. The only slight dissapointment was the crepes, which had been cooked earlier and were cold and a little dry. Otherwise, would highly recommend. View menu

We had a very pleasant and relaxing meal at William de Percy restaurant. We were actually late for our booking as we’d been travelling back from the Scottish Highlands, but the staff were so accommodating even though they were busy. The food was good value, fresh and tasty but more so, the ambiance was warm and welcoming which was just what we needed after a long journey, helped also by the lovely staff who are attentive and friendly. Breakfast the next morning was also excellent the best smoked salmon I’ve had for some time. Thank you William de Percy.

"The place seems unprofessionally run. The staff all look like they could do with a bath. No overalls are worn and their clothes are all of the type that many would wear to lounge around the house in . Several have longer hair and beards but don’t wear any kitchen p.p.e. The decor is shabby and I wondered what kind of hygiene rating they would have. Although not busy, the staff seemed to be disorganised, falling over eachother and lacking in training. They seemed to handle the food in an inexperienced, clumsy fashion. The only tool I saw being used was a pizza peel for taking the pizza in and out of the oven. On all other occasions the food was handled. I didn’t notice any hand washing or alcohol gel in evidence. The menu is quite limited and uninspiring. 2 of the 6 pizza choices include chicken which Italians would argue is definite no no! All pizzas are reheated to order which eliminates the possibility of customisation. I don’t believe the restaurant would stand out in many European countries, as pizza in general is of a much higher standard than that in the UK. In spite of the above, The basic pizza is excellent in taste (even though it is all re-heated). And for this reason it is worth a visit. Compared to other uk pizza restaurants which are typically serving absolute garbage, the food is way out in front. If you can tolerate the negatives I’m sure you won’t be disappointed with the pizza. However with a bit of effort, this place could be transformed into something truly amazing."
