"Finding the Hocheck was a little bit of an exercise, since it sits somewhat above the entry road, accessed by a steep driveway. Once we'd found it, we realized that the name, which means high corner was quite appropriate. We found a parking place with...no problem in front. It was early in the evening, so the restaurant wasn't crowded. The decor was very traditional and cozy, and more rustic than most we'd been in. It had by the entry door what seemed to be one of those old large German household ceramic heating stoves. The waiter was helpful and friendly, and he spoke English well enough. The menus were bound, interestingly, in wooden boards, and there were English-language menus available too. We ordered a variety of plates; schnitzel, cordon bleu, schweinsbraten, and a bauerngroestl. The schweinsbraten was very tasty, and it along with an extra side of spaetzle, was indeed a full meal. Dinner for four was a very reasonable Euros, including water, tea, and soft drinks. And bonus! it began to snow again outside while we were eating (this was on May We were all-around pleased with the Hocheck and will make sure to return there during our next visit to the area."

Cozy little bar with a good kitchen. Loved the dumplings. Warm and inviting. Great service from the people who run the hotel.

I only stopped in for an ice coffee after hiking the Witbachklamm, but sitting out under a tree, having a cold drink after the exercise was a delight. A good place to take a break and grab a drink or snack.

Nice location, nice beergarden good news end here. On the first page of the menu the owners claim that everything is carefully prepared with almost daily fresh ingredients. Well, anyone who knows something about (Upper-)Bavarian cuisine will be surprised the pork roast is...below average and the gravy tastes of cube stock, the coleslaw definitely tastes of MSG and has a strange color. The trout à la meunière was the worst I ever had, probably deep-fried not pan-fried with lots of butter. Service is average, overall not good value for money.

What a beautiful restaurant! Typical old Bavarian house..Charming staff, gorgeous sorroundings. Tried several dishes from pork schnitzel which is delicious, crispy and large! bread dumplings with mushroom sauce.. yummy... tender and juicy knuckle of pork..slow cooked to perfection. I also recommend their soups..to be honest...everything is excellent. Portions are generous. One of those places you just want to stay and enjoy the decor or the peaceful beer garden. Fresh wheat beer on tap! Kitchen closes at Later than that only snacks are served.

Stumbled on this place by chance after visiting the nearby Wimbachklamm warefall, and decided to stop for a drink. Once we'd seen a couple of dishes go past destined for other guests, we decided to stop for dinner. My brother in law and I had...the Hocheck Bayerish burger (a sausage loaf burger), and what a burger it was. Absolutely delicious. My wife and sister had the Turkey Schnitzel and not a bit was wasted there either, except the piece I had to eat because it was too big for my wife to finish. Lovely quiet surroundings, friendly staff, good beer and food. What more do you need?

Nice little place. We stopped in here on the way back from our hike to Wimbachklamm Waterfalls to get out of the rain and have a bier. Very quint little place with fantastic décor. Waitress were friendly and spoke very good English. There was also...an English menu. The käsespätzle was fantastic, maybe the best we had it Bavaria. Which is saying something, because that is my wife’s “go to dish”, and she orders it regularly. I thought the prices we a little high for where we were, they seem more like München prices, not rural Bavarian prices. The biergarten looked really nice, but the weather kept us from checking it out. I will stop in again when in the area, hopefully I can visit the bierga...

"Unfortunately, today's day did not go as planned, because we wanted to spend lunch in the mountain restaurant with the chairlift to the Hoch Schwarzeck. Due to the bad weather, the lift was unfortunately out of operation, and so we spontaneously take a look at the nearby Zipfhäusl, where we stayed a few days before with bright sunshine and magnificent views with coffee and cake. Both tar (Black Forests Cherry and Cheese Cream) were far below expectations and consisted more of cream than anything else. You could almost describe it like this: very viscous basement floor with a once tasty cheese cream aroma and once chocolate cherry aroma. All right, but the menu had promised us, so we decided to eat in the zipfhäusl. This time not on the terrace, but in the restaurant we get a place on the window. The drinks came soon, but I was surprised to get wheat beer glass and bottle on the table for self-filling while I could not see it at another of the well-stocked tables. My questions about eating were either not properly understood or the answer was simply not known. So I was told that pig with mushroom cream sauce are OHNE mushrooms. I asked if there was something with mushrooms and was referred to the pig halves with pifferling / mushroom sauce, but they were without mushrooms. So I didn't ask for mushrooms? And I have an answer I don't know. Full confusion. Anyway, I ordered the ends of the pigs with o.g sauces. And as the roasted potatoes became aware of me by the longer standing (and exactly so) previous reviews at RK, I ordered the planned late lumps in roasted potatoes. And incredibly true, they were as well as described by other critics sterile unacidified roasted potatoes in 2012, but at least three to four small glazed onion rings were added. Padded with a bissel salt and pepper, but due to their crosses they were very pleasant as well as the non-fresh but well prepared pieces. My wife chose the Tagliatelle with whipped cream. And what a surprise, in both dishes was not only sauce, but real mushrooms. Champignons and paws from the can, but we were prepared for some reason. The side salads surprised from the freshness factor, because almost everything was fresh, even the carrot salad! I would continue from roast potatoes (something positive perhaps the over years of constancy of the product, because then it is easy to appreciate) as well as absolutely discouraged from the above mentioned cakes. Conclusion: All in all well prepared, but without special claim. Nothing for connoisseurs, but for hunger, which can also enjoy a fresh additional salad."
